Afghanistan have called up an uncapped Najeeb Tarakai in place of Afsar Zazai to boost their batting for the World Twenty20. The flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad will continue to open the innings for Afghanistan and Tarakai will be expected to add more power to the top order.

Afghanistan also announced the squad for their maiden Asia Cup appearance. Noor Ali Zadran, who had been withdrawn from the World Twenty20 qualifier due to an injury and was left out of the World T20 squad, has been included for the Asia Cup. Allrounder Fazal Niazai has been rewarded with a call-up to the ODI team after recent consistent performances for the Afghanistan A team.

Heading into their third World T20, Afghanistan, who had finished second in the tournament qualifier last year, are slotted in Group A and will compete with Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Nepal for a spot in the final-ten stage. The team has been in Sri Lanka for the last month for a conditioning camp and will fly to Bangladesh for the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to begin on February 25. Afghanistan will start their World T20 campaign with a match against Bangladesh on March 16, the first game of the tournament.

Afghanistan squad for Asia Cup: Mohammad Shahzad, Noor Ali Zadran, Karim Sadiq, Nowroz Mangal, Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Rahmat Shah, Mirwais Ashraf, Fazal Niazai, Hamza Hotak, Hamid Hassan, Shapoor Zadran, Dawlat Zadran, Najeeb Zadran

This is a country of tough and talented young men. I wish they would tie up with the BCCI to have their better players play in India for some of the Ranji teams. I am sure they will make a mark because they look very good but for the required exposure. In any case India and Afghanistan have always been very close. They will be most comfortable in India.

No point, Afghanistan needs to start playing tests and boards need to arrange more test matches against top team to improve

Gulbadin Naib is a hard hitter player but not a game winner or like Karim Sediq opener batsman plus he is young, he cracks under pressure where Karim Sediq is a much more experienced player and also he is a good bowler with a very good economy rate that is why he is being selected to be in team instead of Gulbadin Naib. Don't take me wring Gulbadin Naib is an excellent player but not an opener batsman. You win the game with your most experience players especially against teams like Pakistan, India and etc. As far as Shaidi goes he is my favorite u19 player and I think ACB should give him a chance to play in national team.

ACB should give chance to Hashmatullah shahidi he good player one days he should be in Asia cup

Like many Afghan cricket fans stated it, there is no logic for ACB to exclude Gullbadin Naib out the squad. Also I am excited about giving chances to some new comers, like Fazil Niazai & Najib Taraki. One recommendation to ACB, As you have seen many Afghan Cricket Fans suggested, it is time for Karim Sadiq to say good by to the National squad & have him do something else for ACB. Cause, I have not seen him performed & he does not deserve to claim Gullbadin Naib's or some else place. Thanks
