Bangladesh squad for Asia Cup

  • Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mahmudullah (vice-capt), Imrul Kayes, Nazimuddin, Jahurul Islam, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Elias Sunny, Nazmul Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Shahadat Hossain, Anamul Haque
  • Reserves: Tamim Iqbal, Shuvagata Hom, Farhad Reza, Enamul Haque, Abul Hasan
  • In: Nazimuddin, Jahurul Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain, Anamul Haque
  • Out: Alok Kapali, Naeem Islam, Rubel Hossain, Shahriar Nafees

Mushfiqur Rahim has been retained as Bangladesh captain for the Asia Cup, starting March 11 in Mirpur*. This comes a day after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 14-member squad for the tournament.

The demotion of opening batsman Tamim Iqbal to the reserves and the inclusion of allrounder Mashrafe Mortaza are among a host of changes in the squad. Bangladesh's selectors have dropped four of the 15 players who were part of the home ODI series against Pakistan in December 2011, demoted two to reserve status, and called up five. They also continued to not pick Mohammad Ashraful.

The chief selector Akram Khan, however, said that dropping Tamim was not the panel's decision but that of the Bangladesh Cricket Board president Mustafa Kamal. "Tamim Iqbal was dropped by Mustafa Kamal," he told Daily Star. "He was in the team that we submitted [for approval]."

The selectors had received favourable fitness reports on both Mortaza and Tamim ahead of their meeting to pick the Asia Cup squad. Mortaza had led Dhaka Gladiators to victory in the inaugural season of the BPL, but Tamim played only two games for Chittagong Kings because of a groin injury.

The five players called up to the squad were batsman Nazimuddin, wicketkeeper batsmen Jahurul Islam and Anamul Haque, Mortaza, and fast bowler Shahadat Hossain. Anamul, 19, is the only uncapped player in the squad.

Alok Kapali and Shahriar Nafees, allrounder Naeem Islam and medium-pacer Rubel Hossain were dropped from the squad that played Pakistan. Tamim and medium-pace allrounder Farhad Reza, who were also part of the Pakistan series, were among the reserves for the Asia Cup.

Taking Tamim out was a good decision, but Nafees should have stayed. Drop Kayes, he is worth nothing. Sylhet Royals kept losing when he was part of the team.

my best team will be 1)kayes 2.nazimuddin3.jahirul or a.haq 4.sakib 5.mushfiqur 6.mahmuddulah 7.nassir hussain 8.mashraf murtaza 9.abdur razzak or sunny 10.shafiul islam 11.shahadat or nazmul

This is the first time I am reading this but have we completely lost our minds. Yes Tamim has been in bad form but who would be able to replace him. People on this board who are stating that his arrogance needed a reprimand are correct in stating so, but that reprimand should come from the dressing room and the selectors and NOT the president of the Board. Tamim has had a bad year but how long did we persist with Ashraful despite his constant failures in the international stage. Bangladesh as a Team have been under-performing (barring Shakib and Mushfiq), so that cannot be the reason for dropping Tamim. Bangladesh is very short on openers as can be illustrated by the replacements that were named instead of him. This decision I am sure had more to do with politics than anything else and will further weaken this already weak team. This is what you get when a board is run by people who have no previous experience in sports administration and thus make a travesty out of it.

Posted by M_Rakibul_Islam on (March 7, 2012, 17:03 GMT)

It's too ridiculous to see a Board can't decide who will b the captain when they already have a permanent captain. BCB declared the name of captain one day later. Was it necessary??

Posted by sifat08 on (March 7, 2012, 15:47 GMT)

To all pak and indian fans who are criticising Bangladeshi cricket team:you guys should think about your teams.India has lost badly in aus in test series and then couldnt qualify for finals in cb series. And pak team have just got whitewashed by englend in ODIs.And why do we bother about BD squad?Because it's our team.We havent asked you to bother about it!!!!

now people would understand what led to ashraful's downfall.....a story similar to tamim iqbal......

true thing agree with martini azzimi

Thanks mostofa kamal for out tanim. Its a great decision.

Posted by BaKeDCaKeD on (March 7, 2012, 6:23 GMT)

Great decision. I don't like Mustafa Kamal, but I liked this decision of him. This is a timely slap on the face of arrogant Tamim, who probably thinks BD cricket can't go ahead without him. Wishing all the best to the Bangladesh team.

Posted by   on (March 7, 2012, 6:09 GMT)

Cheif Selector Akram Khan resigned.

Posted by   on (March 7, 2012, 5:52 GMT)

I think fitness and recent performances of players should be the main criterion for team selection. Soft corners of the selectors should not prevail over anything.

Posted by Arfanur on (March 7, 2012, 5:51 GMT)

Tamim is due to off form and Mostofa Kamal want to not to see him in squad. My question is except Sakib/Musfiq/Mahamudullah who else are in good form. There is point to argue why Tamim is not in squad. But I don't think it will impact on our performance. We all know the end result of this tournament Our team will do average performance, not more than that.

Posted by   on (March 7, 2012, 4:37 GMT)

Dropping TAMIM was a GREAT decision, players like TAMIM shouldn't take their place in the team for granted, it helps them keep them on their toes and realize the fact that IF YOU ARE OUT OF FORM FOR TOO LONG, somebody else will take your place

Posted by   on (March 7, 2012, 3:44 GMT)

Ok, after my last post, I have given some more thoughts. This is my best eleven:- #1 Nazimuddin, #2 Junaid/Jahurul, #3 Asif Ahmed, #4 Anamul Huq/Dhiman Ghosh/Tushar Imran, #5 Shakib, #6 Mushfiq, #7 Mahmudullah, #8 Nasir Hossain, #9 Elias Sunny, #10 Mashrafe, #11 Nazmul/Shahadat/Shafiul.

Posted by praveenchopra on (March 7, 2012, 3:38 GMT)

why you do not include ashraful?he is very talented batman

Posted by   on (March 7, 2012, 3:06 GMT)

Bangladesh is the weakest team in the Asia Cup tournament. That said, we need top order batsmen with a temperament of holding onto the crease and survive till 30-35 overs. Then the middle order can come and help accelerate the run rate. The selectors should have given Asif Ahmed and Dhiman Ghosh/Tushar Imran a chance to play at positions #2,3/4, with Juanid being at #1 and Nazimuddin @#2. Asif, Dhiman and Tushar were the TOP batsmen in the recent NCL (domestic longer version of cricket). I am afraid the current batting line-up is very brittle, and the top order will crumble quickly under 15 overs. :(

Posted by   on (March 7, 2012, 0:46 GMT)

whats the point of u guys arguing when ur team will not win a single match with tamim or without him. even afghanistan has progressed further then bangladesh

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 20:03 GMT)

I think kamal & Akram both are destroye bangladesh cricket. They forget who are the match winner in bd Ash ,tamim ,shakib, masrafee .

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 18:32 GMT)

wow four icon players are out of team what a team bangladesh how improve in cricket they only look for young players nothing else when mashrafe are excluded fm world cup what bcb can do so i think remove mustafa kamal fm the post

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 18:00 GMT)

there is no tamim, no ashraful who will perform, who will take the match away from others, nobody, worst need to see matches.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 16:59 GMT)

It is one of sad news ever for bangladesh cricket. Dropping Tamim ikbal mens bd have to play without one of the best Opener in the world. Tamim is only batsmen indin bowler are thing before Bowl to him. So will see how much cost bd have to Pay?

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 16:36 GMT)

Its a good decision to drop Tamim for now. He couldn't do well in previous matches with Pakistan even he was super flop in BPL. So I think that its a clear message for the BD cricketers who think themselves that they are a "STAR". Our country interest should be above.........So I would say that Tamim decision is correct.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 16:17 GMT)

I think BCB has taken right decision, every one should be criticized by their performance and the attitude in the field and the out of the field as well

Posted by WorldWideCricket on (March 6, 2012, 16:16 GMT)

@chapathishot : When Afghans played with big teams? Their first ODI was against Pakistan few days back. This same team lost to BD U23 in T20 last year. Afghans are beating only minnows belong to associate countries. How Afgan cricket will survive when they dont have any cricketing infustructure at home? Look at Keneya, before 97 they were better than Bangladesh, and now they cant even come close to Bangladesh. You know why? because their cricketing infustructure at home. Without have good cricketing infustructure, you cant succeed. Being a "pathan" wont make you good cricket nation. Look at srilanka, they are not pathan but they are the CHAMPS ! you know why? they have the best cricketing infustructure in ASIA.

Posted by Wachucha on (March 6, 2012, 15:51 GMT)

Tamim is dropped because of his fitness. There is no use having an unfit player in the team and deprive a fit one from playing competitive cricket. He also needs to get the message that no one is indispensable.

Posted by Crikoot on (March 6, 2012, 15:43 GMT)

Wow -- Mustafa Kamal decided to drop Tamim? If selectors decide to drop him - it's acceptable but by why him. I have never heard if any other board chief has taken such decision.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 15:40 GMT)

This is just ridiculous. Why the selectors are there? If goes like this we will see Mustafa Kamal (President of BCB) is playing for us.

Posted by Mayan_Mahbub on (March 6, 2012, 15:27 GMT)

No!!! I think BCB is kidding....No Junaid and ASH... But johirul islam omi.... Its not a gud team...But we hope for the best cricket.....

Really smart sqaud.....dropping tamim was the bst decision evr, because he really need some rest for his recent bad form...i hope he come backs strongly.....would have like to see ashraful in the squad, he was awesome in bpl and his shot selections wer breathtaking :| .......anyways good luck bangladesh, put up some good fight against the opposition (Y)

Posted by Rezwan1492 on (March 6, 2012, 15:14 GMT)

To people who are wanting Tamim Iqbal in the squad. If you think his record makes him eligible to be in the squad you should also the record in the last one year.. If it was your team, would you take an opener who score 10 runs on average at max or someone who can score 30-40 by taking some more balls? To me, this is a great decision to put him out of the squad, because he wasn't improving himself and this lesson will make him encouraged to improve. I also am shocked to see Ashraful out of the squad. He should have been there, because he has improved, and he is consistently trying hard to gain his pride back but not Tamim, his rough behavior is paying off.. and he should realize that he doesn't score until he scores. Saying this and that in the media, won't bring his pride back. He WAS a terrific opener, to me the best Bangladesh has produced but that also means he has to maintain his form. There will be downfalls, but that doesn't mean for a whole long year.

Posted by stormy16 on (March 6, 2012, 12:34 GMT)

I thought Tamin was one of Bangladesh's best hopes and surely his record is good enough - unless he is injured. The issue I wish to raise is why have selectors if the team they selected is changed by someone else. That makes no sense but happens in other parts of Asia as well. I think the ICC should define some of these roles if people dont understand them. Can you imagine the Australian selectors picking a team and some other authority changing it - evern wondered why the Aussies have been so successfull over a long time. Its not just talent - its the total package.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 12:05 GMT)

It is acceptable that Tamim is not included in the team but what about Ashraful? He performed incredibly well in BPL then everybody had expected.I guess before dropping all the good players Akram Khan should have been dropped as a team selector......FOR SURE bangladesh will be seen in the bottom of the table making lame excuses that for these these reasons we are here...

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 11:30 GMT)

It's very shocking news that tamim Iqbal out of team.... He is the player who deserve to play in the Bangladesh team as a opeaning batman Bangladesh they don't have any alternative of him Otherwise Bangladesh cricket board will pay for this I request to Bangladesh cricket board if his physically fit give him a chance in the Asia cup as a opener .tamim is much much better of nazimuddin/junied siddiki I'm not take the side of tamim . I want Bangladesh cricket team play good in Asia cup I hope board will think about it

Posted by chapathishot on (March 6, 2012, 8:37 GMT)

Why,so much fuss about a team selection ,when the team is only making up numbers.I would have loved to see Afghans than Banglas as they have shown that they can compete against top teams. But Banglas 20 years going backwards only.

Arafat Sunny not even in the best 20? Wow

Posted by rakibul-narail-bd on (March 6, 2012, 5:22 GMT)

i am sure our openers will fail to start the innings, as the team includes poor performed imrul and nazim in bpl. i don,t know what is the fault of zunaid. also ash as middle order. so the team will repent in asia cup due to bad selection of batsman.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 5:03 GMT)

I think it's a good decision to drop player like Tamim he will have to work hard to be back in the team again...but i just don't see any reason to keep players like Imrul Kayes, Shahadat Hossain and Nazimuddin ( I guess he is not good enough for t20 or even one day )...will miss Junaid and Ashraful a big time...and Shuvagata and Shahriar Nafess should have given more chance in the national just can't judge a player by his performance in the domestic T20 league....

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 4:57 GMT)

Chairman manipulating with the selection, not a positive thing, what are selectors for, then? Kamal should quit.....

Posted by Sachit1979 on (March 6, 2012, 3:51 GMT)

Completely agreed with @MMHossain. They have much more than required spinners or wicket keepers but very less recognized batsman. I also think Junaid Siddique or Shahriar Nafees should have been there. Does not look like a balanced squad at all.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 3:46 GMT)

no nazimuddin... ashraful was farway better in BPL

Posted by Maman on (March 6, 2012, 3:27 GMT)

As a Bangladeshi citizen, I am always supporting Bangladeshi team. I hope Bangladesh Cricket squad for Asia Cup should be like…………….

(1) Mohammad Ashraful, (2) Junaid Siddique, (3) Tamim Iqbal, (4) Nazimuddin, (5) Jahurul Islam, (6) Mushfiqur Rahim, (7) Shakib Al Hasan, (8) Mahmudullah, (9) Nasir Hossain, (10) Abdur Razzak, (11) Elias Sunny, (12) Nazmul Hossain, (13) Shafiul Islam, (14) Anamul Haque, (15) Arafat Sunny, (16) Enamul Haque (jnr), (17) Suhrawadi Shuvo.

Posted by woodhaven on (March 6, 2012, 3:27 GMT)

watch out for anamul hauque. he is a under 19 star performer and constantly showing his worth. good team selection. tamim should have been included but my guess he will be in the 2nd ODI, its a 14 man team, so with him its 15. shahadat doesnt deserve to be in main XI

Posted by Dashgar on (March 6, 2012, 2:33 GMT)

I think their best XI for the cup should be: Kayes, Nazimuddin, Rahim (c), Shakib, Mahmudullah, Nasir, Haque (wk), Mortaza, Sunny, Razzak, Shafiul

Posted by Dashgar on (March 6, 2012, 2:30 GMT)

This should be a wake up call for Tamim. He is Bangladesh's most talented batsman but he hasn't been performing anywhere near well enough. Bangladesh have some serious work to do with their side but it does seem like they've got a plan to lead to improvement. Good to see Ashraful ignored, good to see Anamul Haque in the side. I think he should keep and let Rahim focus on batting and captaincy.

Posted by Meety on (March 6, 2012, 2:20 GMT)

This is a reasonable squad, the problem for the selectors is that during the well run & high standard BPL, not many Banga players stood out. I think Farhad Reza should be in the main squad. I would also like to Kazi Islam get a go, being a left armer may be a good piece of variety for Bangladesh. Young Anamul is an interesting choice, I hope not too soon. Those that bag Kayes, need to remember that he has the 3rd best average for a Banga batsmen with over 1,000 ODI runs. I don't rate him as a test batsmen, & would definately choose Siddique over him - if this were test matches. IMO the Banga side should be 1. Tamim (I support the selectors giving him a scare though), 2. Kayes, 3. Nafees (understand he hasn't really nailed his spot), 4. J Islam, 5. Shakib, 6. Mahmudullah, 7. Rahim, 8. Reza, 9. Sunny, 10. Mortaza, 11. Razzaq. I would swap Nasir for J Islam or Nafees & Kazi for Mortaza as well. I would consider selecting Naeem for his fielding, (being the best Banga I've seen).

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 1:55 GMT)

Wth is this? Where is Junaid? Why is Jahurul in the team? Why do we have 3 wicketkeepers? Why is Shahadat in the team?

Imrul is not in form and yet he was picked up? I fail to see the logic behind Bangladesh Cricket Board's selection. And why do we need approval from Lotus Kamal when we actually have a professional selection panel?

I am disappointed.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 1:31 GMT)

Afghanistan should also have been invited, it would make for a much more competitive cricket then what Bangladesh will have to offer..

Posted by MMHossain on (March 6, 2012, 0:29 GMT)

Team Composition: - Batsman: 5 (including allrounder Shakib and Mahmudullah); - Wicket Keeper batsman: 3 - Left Arm Spinner: 3 (including Shakib); - Fast Bowler: 4

1st Question: Why 3 wicket keeper in a squad of 14 (instead of taking an additional front line batsman like Junaid Siddique, Shahriar Nafees, Shuvogoto Hom), given that the regular failure of our batsman has been the main reason of concern?

2nd Question: Why need 4 fast bowler (Shahadat!?) in sub-continent condition? The management would eventually end up playing only 2 seamers every match and with Mashrafee and Shafiul available, flop star like Shahadat hardly stands a chance of making the final eleven.

3rd Question: Why are we seeing this sudden outburst from Mr. Akram Khan? Would he react the same had Imrul Kayes been dropped or is such a reaction reserved for only Tamim Iqbal? We all believe and know that Tamim is one of the few players that is of international standard. May be he should have been given another ch

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 0:11 GMT)

Why Shahadat? And why not Alauddin Babu? Alauddin Babu did a good performance in BPL.

Posted by   on (March 6, 2012, 0:08 GMT)

Junaid should have been there instead of anamul. That lad's still too young, not developed for International cricket yet. These selectors have been ignoring Junaid for way too long even though they've given so many chances to so many other under-performers. Bangladesh top 3 with Tamim, Kayes and Junaid was doing reasonably well but they decided to change it.

Also, whoever who said "Bd will miss sehwag, 175 ouch" - remember buddy Mash is back, sehwag doesn't wanna face him. His middle stump got knocked over twice in the first over by the in-swinging ball of Mash and Bd went onto beat India, ouchhh....

Posted by Rus2k1 on (March 5, 2012, 23:31 GMT)

Timim is out of the team does not surprise me!! he needed that sooner or later. he has played over 100 ODI's. And his batting average is below 29. so what is so good about him?? he plays 1 good innings oppose to 10 poor innings. If Shewag can be dropped after scoring thousands of runs why not Tamim!! And what about ponting!! he scored over 13000 runs but still out of the team. so guys... stop showing sympathy for him and let him be stronger, better if he is got the talent.

Posted by Ashique129 on (March 5, 2012, 22:51 GMT)

Although I despise other people interfering in the selection process, that is the most intelligent thing Mr. Kamal has done till becoming the president. Tamim needs a break to get his head and heart back into the game. This can be taken as "tonic termination" and will perhaps help him grow into a man. I think Naeem could have been retained as he has been performing steadily. Junayed could have been given a recall, but perhaps he needs more time to sustain the form he is in.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 22:48 GMT)

Tanim should be in the team...Ashraful chance & lack of consistency...Naeem Islam is much better than Ashraful!!

Posted by Amansharief on (March 5, 2012, 22:06 GMT)

there is hardly a good player in BD team and tamim was one of the best BD has produced so far. its a bunch of useless crickers and useless team. they should not be considered for asia cup in the first place instead Afghan should be selected.

Posted by rivernile on (March 5, 2012, 21:36 GMT)

I hope this will motivate Tamim to come back stronger than before. I do think that Shuvagoto should have been considered for the squad. One major thing that I dislike about this decision process is "The selectors did not name a captain or a vice-captain either". You can't have a captain on a series by series basis! If Musfiq is the captain, then let him be for a fixed period of time.

BD cricket team without Tamim as an opener? It looks really funny Mr Mustafa Kamal. You've made me laughing ----- LOL ....

Posted by Milonedru on (March 5, 2012, 20:47 GMT)

Good selection indeed as well as bad. Tamim should realise that nothing can be done with words only. Concentrate on your cricket & return as what you are. Good to see Jahurul & Mash. Shuvagoto Hom should have been given another chance in instead of Anamul. Its worthless to bring Shahadat back. Wish, he will not be considered in best XI. Waiting to see Syed Rashel & Enamul Haque Jnr coming back again

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 20:43 GMT)

After Ashrafull, another of Bandalesh's prospective star is going down like anything. Its sad to see, the likes of Tamim not playing to his potential. I hope he shows some character and comes back strongly. Bangladesh cricket needs players like these. Shakaib/Mushfique cant do it alone.

On current form, against Pakistan and in BPL, Tamim doesnt even deserve a place in reserves let alone selecting in the team.

Posted by ZsZs on (March 5, 2012, 20:40 GMT)

Tamim needs to become humble and show his merit. He is NOT God's gift to BD Cricket. Gayle and Tamim same mentality. Except - Gayle has consistent talent.

I really don't care about Bangladesh team right now as BCB & Bangladesh cricket team, both seem to me in massive chaos. But liked that Tamim got axed as he thinks he is the only savior in the team. I am actually commenting here for Sri Lankan people. I always liked Sri Lanka and their people as Sri Lankans are so polite and I always supported Sri Lanka before Bangladesh arrived in international arena. But now I love Sri Lankans to see them as a well wisher of Bangladesh & tigers. Thanks to you guys and praying that Sri Lanka win this Asia Cup and if not then don't let India to win.

each of the players from the selected squad should do his best to build his position in the team.when they will do it, bd will be a strong team.

funny squad, all bowler and all rounder. they havent select any middle order batsman. is it going to be a t20 match again lol i would be wonder if they cross 200 runs in any single match in asia cup.

Posted by RaMin90 on (March 5, 2012, 19:17 GMT)

Totally have to disagree with this squad selection. No way Bangladesh can win a game with this squad. Instead of having Imrul Kayes, Anamul Haque, Shafiul Islam, Shahadat Hossain, Nazimuddin, they should instead swap them for Junaid Sidique, Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Ashraful, Rubel Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Sabbir Rahman, Shariar Nafees and Mominul Haque. About half these players in the squad performed bad in the BPL and are out of form.

You guys want to see Tamim? REALLY???? REALLY???? The guy has stopped caring about his cricket, his attitude is awful. He has no right to be in the team. I'm tired of watching him throw his wicket away over the last one year. And everytime he gets out the same way: zero footwork, wild slash at balls wide of the off stump. And he doesn't seem to care one bit. This is a wake up call for him, hopefully he realizes that Bangladesh cricket does not revolve around him. I hope he comes back to his senses and returns to his previous form after that.

anamul haque, junaid??really?? i think selectors overestimating their mediocre performance in bpl..and about tamim..he did not deserved place..but board president always interfere in team selection..not a good sign!! and still kayes in the team..unbelievable

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:24 GMT)

Sumhow BCB president hav an issue with is known!

Posted by muannis on (March 5, 2012, 18:23 GMT)

Good selection. Bangladesh has nothing to lose in Asia Cup . So few experiment is not bad.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:17 GMT)

Enamul Jnr could have been in the main squad instead of Shahadat...

Posted by Sehwag_Is_Ordinary on (March 5, 2012, 18:12 GMT)

this is the worst team ever, second look and no Junaid Siddique, what?!! players like shahriar nafees, alok kapali and naeem islam should never ever be selected again. great lesson for Tamim-

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:10 GMT)

Dear all, don't you read bdnews24 ? Tamim out because of injury during BPL & also Rubel Hossain. He just kept in reserve bench as formality.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:09 GMT)

why tamim out of squad. He is the only opener to dominate opponent bowler.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:08 GMT)

i need indea mass tamim iqbal

Posted by nathangonmad on (March 5, 2012, 18:04 GMT)

Tamim Iqbal Bangladesh's best ever batsmen, not playing? Just dumb. What are the selectors thinking?

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:04 GMT)

Not a Gud team..Too many inexperienced batsmen and too many Pacers for Dhaka Pitch..4 ICON Crickets of recently concluded BPL is not selected..too many Left Arm spinners too..Tamim or Ashraful shud hav in da team .....Line Up wud be: Imrul,Nazimuddin,Zahurul,Mushfiqur,Shakib,Riad,Nasir,Mashrafee,Sunny,Razzaq,Shahadat

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 18:01 GMT)

Where is Junaid Siddique ? He is getting his form in bpl.Hopefully he will be reconcider.and bowler alaudding babu was bowlling well in bpl, he suppose to be get change in national team. And mominul also other tellent so he should get change national team.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:59 GMT)

shakib should be the captain, tamim should be include the squad.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:56 GMT)

very very good decision. tamim should get out from team for while.may be he will gain his run and he'll loss some arrogance.. ziaur rahman can replace for tamim not with jahirul islam.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:52 GMT)

where is junaed? why sahadat?

Posted by Inaz on (March 5, 2012, 17:47 GMT)

@Ithisham Mohamed consistency is what earns a call up, but in a way i would agree with you that Junaid should be in place of Imrul kayes. Finally Anamul haque gets his deserved chance, he could be the next Chandimal for Bangladesh. And I would love to see Asif Ahamed in the side. Why lots of fans expecting to pick players based on the BPL performence, remember this is not an t20 tournament. As a Srilankan Bangladesh supporter I would love to see Bangladesh performing well in the future.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:47 GMT)

I am shocked... where is TAMIM & ASH... ???? SHOCKING...

Posted by kameron on (March 5, 2012, 17:44 GMT)

we want to see Tmim Iqbal in the min squad

Posted by QTS_ on (March 5, 2012, 17:43 GMT)

Note: BPL was T20, not one-day cricket. Imrul Kayes performed in 50-over cricket, though not in T20. Junaid Siddique played a T20 blinder. Tamim Iqbal was hapless in T20's and ODI's against Pakistan (whom Bangladesh will face again in the Asia Cup). So the selectors cannot be blamed for trying new faces.

we want to see Tmim Iqbal in the min squad

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:38 GMT)

Where is junaid siddhiqui i like his batting style?

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:35 GMT)

surprised with that decision. tamim is probably out injured. not a good decision anyway.

Posted by admshafi on (March 5, 2012, 17:26 GMT)

Tamim in reserve!! But WHY??? he is out of squad though he is fully fit! Its all about mustafa kamal, who has been acting like a dictator with bangladesh cricket! every time he changes the squad that's selected primarily by the national selectors, though he was not a cricketer! This man has trying to destroy bangldesh cricket!!!

Posted by BDin_VA on (March 5, 2012, 17:23 GMT)

I would like to see Mortaza back in track as Captain. Well done selectors as Tamim axed.

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:22 GMT)

Why Kayes again??????????? Why Tamim out??????????????

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:21 GMT)

really bad selection without tamim Iqbal there is no good opener in Bangladesh. In the recent time this is most bad selection without tamim

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:16 GMT)

Sakib was the best captain ever! Call him again!

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 17:03 GMT)

Surprised to see Anamaul (real name Enamul Haque Bijoy) and Shadath Hossain who could not show very good performance.176 runs from 10 matches with 107 strike rate in BPL is not very strong performance to be qualified for first call up for national team.He could be given a chance to play in A team first to show his ability because internatiom level is not too easy. Why Shahadath Hossain is agian who played only 3 matches with 24 average and 8 economy rate in BPL.Although Imrul was good in Dhaka Premier League but could not show good performance in BPL.I think it could be very weak team

Posted by sifat08 on (March 5, 2012, 17:02 GMT)

Why not dropping Imrul Kayes then? He has in very bad form lately like Tamim. Also Rubel Hossain should have been selected instead of Nazmul Hossain.

I would Like see Mortaza back in track as captain. well done selectors.

its not good he has to get a chans

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 16:45 GMT)

due to injure tamim iqbal out....:-(

Posted by ars29 on (March 5, 2012, 16:39 GMT)

whats wrong? why they drop Tamim? Why they picked up Imrul despite Junaid who has performed well in BPL? A lot of new faces..seems like U-19 team! :S

Posted by   on (March 5, 2012, 16:36 GMT)

Where is Ashraful?we want ashraful...tamim should have given another chance

Posted by MENDIS_Forever on (March 5, 2012, 16:36 GMT)

hmm..Interesting.Is Tamim Iqbal that bad?

Posted by naz15 on (March 5, 2012, 16:31 GMT)

Ok good decent squad good to see anamul there but shahadat- could be risky as he can be quite expensive, nice to see mortaza there- after a good bpl for him this could be the series for him-overall batting looks pretty strong for the tigers, so could be a good tournament if they perform

Posted by Sinhaya on (March 5, 2012, 16:30 GMT)

As a Sri Lankan, I really hope dropping big names like Tamim Iqbal will help them work hard rather than being big headed in thinking that their places are guaranteed. Hope Bangladesh performs in this Asia cup. Ashraful has been a miserable failure and deserves nothing but an axing.

Posted by cricfan2007 on (March 5, 2012, 16:30 GMT)

It is great and necessary that BD get out of "fascination for so called indispensable names" and value real performance in the field. Also, discipline is needed(less talk and more focus on performance).
