Kannan J: "@Mufassir - You made a comment part valid and part flawed. One, trial and error must be used to see the position that will suit the batsman. So, one must realize that Sachin's playing style is such that he's more suited to playing up the order, as is Sehwag's. Now imagine if Michael Beven were made to open; would he have been the legendary self that he is now? The batting order is not there to incrementally reflect the batsman's ability, where playing higher up the order is a sign of better batsmanship. The order is supposed to reflect the playing styles of the respective individuals. It's like saying, feet are more important than eyes are, so they should be above the eyes ... Doesn't work that way, I fear. I have not had the opportunity to examine Nasir's playing style so I wouldn't comment much regarding that. That said, I have a few Bangladeshi students, most of whom have talked about Nasir in recent times. I'm assuming, he should be given an extended run at six, seven first; then, as he performs, should be progressively moved up the order. Before he can be moved up the order, the coaches and captain must see three things: the ability to play the new ball, rotate the strike post 15 overs, and improvising to find the odd boundary. Long story short: In my over thirty years of following cricket, I have noticed, the move up the order is not as simple as it may sound; so, be patient in Nasir's case. That all said, overplaying him at six, seven also has to be prudently avoided in the long term."

41.3

Aizaz Cheema to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, tries to force that good-length delivery through the off side, gets a thick outside edge to third man

42.1

Saeed Ajmal to Nasir Hossain, SIX, that's six, clean strike over the deep midwicket boundary, Ajmal pitches that up, was in the slot for Nasir and he hammered that clean into the stands

42.2

Saeed Ajmal to Nasir Hossain, 1 run, now picks a single, gets on the back foot and works it behind square

42.6

Saeed Ajmal to Shakib Al Hasan, 2 runs, driven inside out wide of long-off and Nasir runs back to the danger end to make it just in time, was a good throw from the deep but Ajmal couldn't collect it cleanly

Gul brought back into the attack

43.1

Umar Gul to Nasir Hossain, FOUR, that's four, a thick edge as he tried to cut that towards point, short and wide and it sped off the outside edge to the third-man boundary, Bangladesh are inching closer

43.2

Umar Gul to Nasir Hossain, FOUR, four more, Nasir's playing a delightful innings here, smartly done, short on middle and he just rolls his wrists over it and places it between fine leg and deep square leg, excellent timing

Less than six an over now

43.3

Umar Gul to Nasir Hossain, OUT, bowled'im! Gul has fought back by castling Nasir, was fired in towards middle and leg, Nasir moved across and tried to close the face on that one, was probably done in for pace there, ricocheted off the pads onto the stumps

Nasir Hossain b Umar Gul 47 (70m 49b 3x4 1x6) SR: 95.91

39 off 39, Nasir departs after a crucial knock but should have stayed on, Shakibs still out there. How significant was Gul and Sarfraz's partnership given the current state of the game.

43.6

End of over 44 (12 runs) Bangladesh 228/6 (35 runs required from 36 balls, RR: 5.18, RRR: 5.83)
Abdur Razzak    1* (2b)      Umar Gul    8-0-53-1
Shakib Al Hasan    53* (54b 3x4)      Saeed Ajmal    8-0-38-0

Less than six an over, still, but one wicket will tilt the scales once again. It's been a game of constantly fluctuating fortunes, this.

44.1

Saeed Ajmal to Abdur Razzak, OUT, Razzak has thrown it away, that was a mindless slog, tossed up on middle from round the wicket, took his left leg out of the way and tried to thrash it over deep midwicket, missed and was bowled

Abdur Razzak b Saeed Ajmal 1 (6m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

More pressure on Shakib now. Mashrafe Mortaza in now, former captains at each end. He can give it a good whack but Bangladesh now need someone who can stay on with Shakib.

Shakib is being left stranded, the crowd is stunned into silence, tossed up and Mashrafe's eyes lit up, landed on middle and spun the other way, he was looking to hit that through the line but missed, it knocked back off

Mashrafe Mortaza b Saeed Ajmal 1 (4m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

Two wickets in one over and Pakistan have edged ahead once again, is it too much to ask of Shakib from here on?

End of over 45 (2 runs) Bangladesh 230/8 (33 runs required from 30 balls, RR: 5.11, RRR: 6.60)
     Saeed Ajmal    9-0-40-2
Shakib Al Hasan    54* (56b 3x4)      Umar Gul    8-0-53-1

Shafiul Islam is the new man

45.1

Umar Gul to Shakib Al Hasan, 2 runs, was the slower one bowled full, driven firmly wide of long-off for a couple of runs

45.2

45.5

Umar Gul to Shafiul Islam, OUT, can't keep that inswinging yorker out, superb ball from Gul, that looked out to the naked eye, swung in and Shafiul was caught on the toe, would have gone on to hit middle and leg as the replay confirms, Shafiul was too late in bringing his bat down, he has to go back

Shafiul Islam lbw b Umar Gul 1 (4m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Just one more wicket to go, two overs back it was Bangladesh who had the edge. All left to Shakib now. Shahadat, though, has to survive one ball

45.6

Umar Gul to Shahadat Hossain, no run, and he does, pitched up outside off, steered towards point

End of over 46 (5 runs) Bangladesh 235/9 (28 runs required from 24 balls, RR: 5.10, RRR: 7.00)
Shahadat Hossain    0* (1b)      Umar Gul    9-0-58-2
Shakib Al Hasan    58* (59b 3x4)      Saeed Ajmal    9-0-40-2

Four wickets gone for 11 runs, two of them lost to avoidable shots

Shahadat Hossain    0* (2b)      Saeed Ajmal    10-0-45-2
Shakib Al Hasan    63* (64b 4x4)      Umar Gul    9-0-58-2

23 off 18, tension in the stands, Cheema to bowl now. They're saving Gul for a later over.

End of over 48 (1 run) Bangladesh 241/9 (22 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 5.02, RRR: 11.00)
Shahadat Hossain    0* (7b)      Aizaz Cheema    9-0-47-1
Shakib Al Hasan    64* (65b 4x4)      Saeed Ajmal    10-0-45-2

Shakib needs to go for it now, the difference betweens balls and runs has gone up significantly. Gul to finish off his spell now. Fine leg is up, massive gap between third man and deep point

48.1

Umar Gul to Shakib Al Hasan, OUT, bowled'im! Pakistan have won, Gul came over the wicket, bowled it on a good length and he swung mightily at that one, had no choice, got an inside edge onto the pads and then onto the stumps. The umpires want a replay to check if that was a no-ball, it wasn't.

Shakib Al Hasan b Umar Gul 64 (130m 66b 4x4 0x6) SR: 96.96

Gul stars in an all-round effort, it was his contribution at the end of Pakistan's innings and his stand with Sarfraz Ahmed that made the difference in the end. He backed that up with 3 for 58 and it should be no surprise if he walks away with the Man-of-the-Match award. Bangladesh fought well, first picking some quick wickets after a century opening stand to put Pakistan under pressure. Then, they came out positively in the chase, Tamim, Nasir and Shakib trying hard to keep their team within reach but the pressure got to the batsmen when the required-rate crept up beyond six. Pakistan kept their cool and snatched a win in the end.

We've had an exciting start to the Asia Cup, the hosts showing they'll be no pushovers. Do stay tuned in for the presentation. Abhishek Purohit is updating his report for this match.

Mushfiqur: "We were really close, I thought we came back well in our bowling. Our batsmen did a good job at the start, the most important was Nasir's wicket at the end. We just couldn't finish well. We are not winning most of the times after getting into such situations."

Misbah: "it was tough, we should have got 300. Again, we just messed it up. The guys are not learning from their mistakes. The pitch was absolutely perfect for batting, no spin, nothing for the fast bowlers but again the bowlers did good for us. We just have to lift our performances, we need to be more positive and we can't just repeat these mistakes. The bowlers are winning games for us for the last year and a half, but we need to support them."

Mohammad Hafeez has been given the Man of the Match award, I thought it'll be Gul. But anyway, that's what the jury has decided. He made 89 and picked up two wickets.

Hafeez: "I was not having a great time in the last series, very happy with this. I worked with my batting coach, I was just thinking of spending more time at the crease. Jamshed really took the pressure off me earlier on, we gave a good start."

That's it from us, folks. Thanks for tuning in, sending us your feedback. Do join us for the next game, that's India v Sri Lanka on March 13th. See you then, cheers.
