Scorecard
A century to Liam Davis and contrasting innings by Wes Robinson, Adam Voges and Travis Birt allowed Western Australia to leap to second in the Sheffield Shield table with a mighty fourth innings pursuit to defeat Victoria at the MCG.
Set 362 to win, the Warriors achieved the target with five wickets and 11.1 overs to spare. Their chase was given its ideal platform by Davis and Robinson, who added 166 in a second-wicket partnership that was at first conservative before developing into quite the opposite.
Davis' second century of the summer took him to the top of the Australian first-class aggregates, and ensured that Voges and Birt had the target in sight when they played with a boldness that overwhelmed the Victorian bowlers.
Their stand of 119 put the result beyond doubt at a time when the Bushrangers still harboured hopes of victory, having reduced the visitors to 4 for 199 as Robinson, Marcus North and Davis departed in the space of 25 runs.
None of the Bushrangers' attack could claim more than a single wicket, with the new ball pair of James Pattinson and Jayde Herrick going for plenty of runs.
