Border-Gavaskar Trophy - 3rd Test

Australia v India

Australia won by an innings and 37 runs

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100

10.30am Sehwag and Gambhir in the middle, ready for some bounce and pace. The first two days are sold out at the WACA. Harris to bowl.

10.20am Fraser the Amazer on a topic proving very popular with our readers: "I see the Aussies are looking to exploit any juice in the wicket leftover from last nights "party on the pitch"."

Salman has little faith in India's batting: "Trivia question : How many runs will Australia score by the end of day today?"

Tim Lindsay: "India is taking a big gamble, they've got a very long tail now since they've replaced Ashwin. Even more pressure on the top order to perform." Vinay can bat a bit, but not as well as Ashwin.

And the inimitable Sidvee tweets: "Green pitch. Four fast bowlers. 2-0 down. Rumors of rift in the team. Good time for a Sehwag hundred before lunch."

10.15am The WACA track has loads of grass on it, there should be plenty of bounce and seam movement here. India's experienced but misfiring batting unit have a tough morning coming up.

Harsha sends in the first mail of the day. "Last time India played 4 fast bowlers was 1991, Sydney test. Banerjee on debut, Kapli Dev, Prabhakar and Srinath."

David Williams has read this story: "Can you find out if the pitch has been breath tested and is legally allowed to drive given the amount of beer it potentially consumed last night." The ball is expected to swerve about like a drunk, but all okay otherwise.

10.00am Toss Michael Clarke wins the toss and Australia choose to bowl. No place for Nathan Lyon. Four quicks for the home side as Mitchell Starc comes in. Brydon already said all that needs to be said on the Starc v Lyon debate here.

India also go in with four fast bowlers, anyone remember the last time they did that? Vinay Kumar comes in for Ashwin. Well, that is an interesting line-up indeed. Ashwin has been India's second highest run-getter this series as well.

Michael Clarke: "The pitch has got a fair bit of grass, and we decided to go in with four quicks. Bowling first today will help us win this Test match. India are a strong team, with a lot of knowledge and experience, we need to be strong this morning."

MS Dhoni: "We would have liked to bowl as well. The Perth wicket will help the fast bowlers more than spinners. We are a side that has done well in the big venues, whether it is Durban or Perth or even Barbados, we have done well on green tracks."

So Rohit Sharma remains on the sidelines. Virat Kohli gets another chance to show his prowess at the Test level.

9.40am Still 20 minutes to go for the toss, plenty to discuss in the lead-up. Should teams go for all-pace attacks? There has been plenty of talk in the press over India's line-up, with plenty of pressure on the Big Three in the middle order. There was also talk of a rift in the Indian side which has been roundly denied by the Indians.

We've had a pretty comprehensive preview in the run-up to the Test. Here's Dan Brettig's preview. Sidharth Monga muses on MS Dhoni captaincy in Tests away from the subcontinent, and here's why Brydon Coverdale thinks Australia won't the miss the hero of last year's Perth Test, Mitchell Johnson.

Also, the annual ESPNcricinfo awards are here. Head here to vote for the best performances of the year.

9.30am Greetings folks. It's Friday the 13th, and we are in Perth - the wild, wild west. India will cling to the memory of this game from four years ago, but can they regroup again like they did then? Or will Clarke and Australia run away to a 3-0 lead?

Not only is he in great form with the ball at state level, but he knows the local conditions, is a handy lower order batsman, is one of the most athletic WA players in the field, and his name is great fun to type and say!" I doubt the last factor plays a role.

Hilfenhaus to Kohli, no run, just outside off, short of length ball, Kohli defends solidly off the back foot, and that ends a session of dominance for Australia

Matt sends in the latest of the puns:"Looks like Hilf is in da haus again! Great turnaround from last season..."

So, India 73 for 4 at the end of the session, after they didn't change the batting despite losses in the first two Tests. Despite all the talk of the green track, and Perth getting back to its pacy best, there wasn't anything alarming on this track. The bowlers got some sideways movement, but the bounce was true and there wasn't much that was unplayable, certainly not warranting four wickets in a session. Only one session into the game, and Indian fans already turning to gallows humour.

Like Bhaskar: "Considering the rate at which Indian wickets are falling in this series, can you change your commentary style to something like "Harris to Laxman. No wicket" instead of no run..?"

Dinesh: "@ Karthik: Is 4 days not a over enthusiastic expectation??!!"

It was top bowling from Australia's quicks again. They kept probing away outside off, prompting the mistakes and once again they have given Australia control of the match.

Sparkesy: "I really dread to think how much trouble India would be in if Pattinson, Cummins & Watson were all fit. "

Raju Iyer: "do the Aussies need any lunch, having already gobbled up 4 wickets!"

Some Harris jokes before I go get myself some coffee.

George H: "Ryan Harris deadset looks like Stiffler from American Pie. he definitely isnt a pie chucker though. great to see him back in the team and what a great first up wicket "

Justin: "Ryan is really harrising the batsmen today."
