He was a member of the Queensland Under 17 team in 1996-97 and of the Queensland Under 19 team in 1998-99, being captain, having been a member of the Queensland Country Under 19 team in each of these three seasons. In 1999 he came to Brisbane and played with the University club but returned to Townsville in time for this current season. He was selected for the North Queensland team for their two matches against Victoria Institute of Sport at Mackay in September, performing well with both bat and ball. He also achieved well with both bat and ball for North Queensland in the Country Cup match played at Albion in December and could well be the work horse of this team. He intends playing in England in the northern summer of 2001. He was educated at Aldinga Primary School and Willunga High School in Adelaide before coming to Townsville, completing his secondary education at Pimlico High School.
