Wayne Prior was a fast bowler - some reckoned him to be quicker than his contemporary Rodney Hogg. He made his state debut in 1974-75 and after a close season spent bulking up, he took 6 for 41 against the West Indians and followed with match figures of 10 for 168 against New South Wales. He spent 1976 playing 2nd XI cricket for Kent and signed for World Series Cricket in 1977, a move that cost him his full-time job which had been arranged by South Australia. He subsequently became a farmer. He never regained the success of 1975-76 and drifted from the game.
