Scorecard
South Australia's four-man pace attack dismissed Western Australia for 173 to leave their side with a gettable final-day score on the third day of their Sheffield Shield fixture at the WACA. The pair of Chadd Sayers and Joe Mennie combined to pick six wickets, Kane Richardson took two, while Daniel Worrall accounted for Jhye Richardson.
Mennie was first to strike, having Cameron Bancroft, the first-innings double-centurion, caught-behind for 17. Barring Shaun Marsh, Bancroft's opening partner, who struck a 77-ball 52, the rest of Western Australia's batting failed to impress. Their allrounder Marcus Stoinis had to take leave as well to grieve the death of his father.
Pacer Andrew Holder struck in South Australia's chase of 325 when he bowled Johnathon Dalton for 29, ending an opening stand of 45. Jake Weatherfield was not out on 17 and had Joe Mennie, unbeaten on 8, for company at stumps.
The day began with South Australia on 6 for 322 in their first innings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey, who was unbeaten on 26 overnight, remained unbeaten on 46 to shore them up to 363. But South Australia had fallen well short of Western Australia's first-innings total of 7 for 514, conceding a lead of 151. Richardson wiped out the tail in quick time to finish with 4 for 90.
