Former Test pace bowler Scott Muller will play his first match for the XXXX Queensland Bulls in more than 18 months after he was recalled today for Friday's ING Cup clash with the Victorian Bushrangers at the Gabba.
Muller and fellow quick Damien Mackenzie, who will make his domestic one-day debut for the Bulls after making his first class debut against Tasmania earlier this month, come into the Bulls one-day team for the first time this season in place of the injured Michael Kasprowicz (hamstring) and Ashley Noffke (tendonitis, left ankle).
Left-hander Lee Carseldine, fresh from his second double-century for the Queensland Academy of Sport earlier this month, has also been called up to replace injured captain Stuart Law (broken finger).
Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Graham Dixon will announce the new Bulls captain once the QC Board has ratified the appointment later today.
Opener Jimmy Maher captained the Bulls in the ING Cup match against Tasmania two weeks ago when Law was absent for the birth of his first child while Test opener Matthew Hayden has previously captained the team in Law's absence.
Muller's last game for Queensland was the 1999-2000 Pura Cup Final against Victoria in March 2000, with surgery to both knees preventing him from playing last season and the first half of this season.
The right-arm paceman has made a steady return in the Brisbane XXXX Grade competition since making his comeback for the Gold Coast Dolphins prior to Christmas.
Mackenzie impressed in his only innings of bowling in Hobart taking 3-45, with the Bulls beaten outright in two days.
Queensland will train tomorrow from 2.00pm at the Gabba with a further session on Thursday morning at a time to be nominated.
The Bulls presently lead the ING Cup competition by one point from the Western Warriors.
