Scorecard
Only nine overs of play were possible in the Pura Cup game between New South Wales and Queensland at Sydney, as rain washed out most of the third day. Michael Bevan and Mark Waugh added 19 runs in that time, making sure that no wickets were lost as all hope of an outright result in the match was washed away. New South Wales finished the day on 4 for 196, with Bevan on 79 not out and Waugh on 11 not out.
The only interest left in the match centred around it being, in all probability, the last first-class outing for the Waughs. Steve had made 65; on what note would Mark end this fabulous chapter in Australian cricket history?
