Queensland's hopes of reaching the Pura Cup final were dealt a blow when rain ruined any chance they had of reeling in their target of 315 against South Australia. The Bulls were 0 for 20 when the weather turned bad and the game petered out to a draw, although they took first-innings points.

Jason Borgas and Nathan Adcock continued the Redbacks' improved batting as Darren Lehmann delayed his declaration until after lunch, meaning Queensland's chase would have been a mighty challenging one. Borgas missed the chance for his maiden first-class century in his third game, when he edged Daniel Doran to slip for 95.

Adcock's impressive season continued as he hit nine fours on his way to an unbeaten 76. The only negative for the Redbacks, who closed their innings at 6 for 346, was when Cullen Bailey retired hurt after he was struck on the helmet by an Ashley Noffke bouncer.

Lehmann foreshadowed his late declaration after play on the third day when he slammed the Bulls for batting on after they took a first-innings lead. "It was perfectly set up just to pull out once they got the two [points]," Lehmann told Adelaide's Sunday Mail. "I need 85 overs to bowl them out on that wicket. It's not the right way to play cricket especially when they need the outright."
