Luke Pomersbach's fourth first-class century saved Western Australia from defeat but South Australia took the only points from a slow-moving match on a batsman-friendly pitch in Adelaide. The Redbacks declared before lunch with a lead of 170, set up by Michael Klinger's 255, and they had a sniff of victory when Allan Wise picked up two wickets in consecutive balls.

It left the Warriors at 3 for 22 but an aggressive Pomersbach and a defensive Marcus North formed the perfect combination and added 174 for the fourth wicket to all but secure the draw. Pomersbach raced to his half-century from 37 deliveries and slowed only slightly as he struck 13 fours and five sixes.

He eventually fell for 144 but the watchful captain North ensured there was no collapse. North occupied the crease for nearly four hours in compiling 50 and when he departed late in the innings the match was well and truly saved.

After a grinding first three days in which run-rates hovered around 2.5, South Australia lifted their tempo on the final morning as they aimed for a winning buffer. Klinger was the last man out for 255 and while his career-best effort could not get the Redbacks a win, it did hand South Australia their first points of the campaign.
