Chris Swan, the swing bowler, has been cleared to return for Queensland and will be joined by Nathan Rimmington in the Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania from Sunday. Swan has proved his fitness from a groin problem while Rimmington wins a promotion at the Gabba following the injuries to Ben Laughlin (stomach) and Grant Sullivan (hamstring) in the opening round in Perth.
Rimmington is in form after his hat-trick finished off Western Australia on Friday, which helped set up Queensland's second victory in a row, and he is the only player in the world with a List A and Twenty20 hat-trick. The legspinner Daniel Doran has been picked again but will have to wait on the condition of the pitch before winning a start.
Tasmania have lost the fast man Gerard Denton, who fractured his thumb during training and has been replaced in the squad by the allrounder James Faulkner. The Tigers are also without Adam Griffith, who has suffered a slight tear to his right triceps and both he and Denton are expected to be unavailable for three weeks. The teams will warm-up for the four day match with an FR Cup game on Friday.
Queensland squad Nick Kruger, Ryan Broad, Lee Carseldine, Glen Batticciotto, Wade Townsend, Chris Hartley (wk), Chris Simpson (capt), Ben Cutting, Daniel Doran, Nathan Rimmington, Chris Swan, Scott Walter.
Tasmania squad Ed Cowan, Jon Wells, Alex Doolan, George Bailey (capt), Dan Marsh, Luke Butterworth, Jason Krejza, Brendan Drew, Brett Geeves, Brady Jones (wk), James Faulkner, Tim Macdonald.
