Day two New South Wales 9 for 358 (Clarke 78, Henriques 78, O'Keefe 74*, Rimmington 4-70) v Western Australia 217
Scorecard

A trio of substantial innings by Michael Clarke, Moises Henriques and Steve O'Keefe capitalised on the platform laid by the openers Scott Henry and Peter Nevill as New South Wales took control of the Sheffield Shield opener against Western Australia on day two at the WACA ground.

Henry and Nevill made only 39 and 34 respectively, but their contributions helped to blunt the new ball and allowed Clarke, Henriques and O'Keefe to play their shots and take the Blues to 9 for 358 in reply to WA's 217 on a day ended early by bad light.

Nathan Rimmington claimed 4-70 for the Warriors while Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Coulter-Nile also bowled handily.

They might have enjoyed greater rewards with a little more help from the field as several chances went down.

Henry was turfed by Adam Voges in the slips on six, and Clarke was dropped by Shaun Marsh in the cordon off the bowling of Coulter-Nile.

Clarke had to that point made only 42, and the innings was delicately poised at 5 for 151.

However from that moment the Blues took greater control, as Henriques and Clarke were not separated until the visitors were on the cusp of first innings points.

O'Keefe then made a doughty lower order contribution, and the No. 11 Doug Bollinger even had the temerity to attempt a reverse sweep off the left-arm spin of Michael Beer before the close.
