Burns, Pomersbach guide steady Queensland
Queensland 4 for 263 (Burns 75, Pomersbach 73, Boland 3-35) v Victoria
Joe Burns and Luke Pomersbach both made half-centuries to help Queensland to 4 for 263 on the first day of their match against Victoria at the Gabba. Burns and Pomersbach opened and put on 131 for the first wicket, and there were contributions from the rest of the batsmen before the Bulls went to stumps with Peter Forrest on 17 and James Hopes on 19.
Pomersbach, fresh from a century in his last Shield match, scored 73 before he was caught off the bowling of Scott Boland, and Burns, back in the team after being dropped, made 75 before he fell to the legspin of Cameron White. Usman Khawaja and Chris Lynn added 64 for the third wicket before the Bulls lost 2 for 7 as Boland (3 for 35) struck twice.
Khawaja was caught behind for 40 and Lynn was also caught behind, for 33. By stumps, Hopes and Forrest had put on 35 for the fifth wicket.
