ESPNcricinfo staff

India A 5 for 231 (Rayudu 77, Jadhav 52, Samson 49*) beat Australia A 228 (Stoinis 58, Hughes 58, Tiwary 5-34, Akshar 3-30) by five wickets

Manoj Tiwary's maiden five-wicket haul set up a comfortable win for India A against Australia A two days ahead of the Quadrangular final between the two teams. Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav and Sanju Samson contributed with the bat as India A chased 229 with 13 deliveries to spare.

Tiwary sent the hosts plummeting from 1 for 126 to 6 for 180, picking up 5 for 34 in ten overs. Marcus Stoinis made a fifty at the top of the order and shared a solid partnership with Phillip Hughes before Akshar Patel provided the breakthrough in the 17th over. The second-wicket partnership between Hughes and Peter Nevill had grown to 48 when Tiwary had the latter stumped for 23. Tiwary claimed the next four wickets, removing captain Cameron White, Hughes, Tom Cooper and Alex Doolan. Akshar ended the innings in the final over when he dismissed Ben Cutting for 22 to claim 3 for 30.

Manan Vohra departed in the fourth over of the chase to Clint McKay after which Robin Uthappa had another failure on the tour, when he was caught off Pat Cummins for 13. Tiwary did not last long as well but Rayudu and Jadhav revived the innings with a century stand for the fourth wicket. Jadhav stroked 52 off 50 and Samson took over after the former fell in the 33rd over. Samson made an unbeaten 49 off 51 while Rayudu, who made 77 off 112, exited with the score on 191. Parvez Rasool came in and hit an unbeaten 20 off 16 even as Samson finished the game with successive fours off Cutting.

India A finished with five wins in six games while Australia A were second with four out of six. The teams will meet in the final to be played on Saturday in Darwin.

Don't think Australia A can have any complaints given India A's winning record in this tournament but they had a chance at 220/1 in the 41st. Needed to get to 300 and didnt so paid the price. Dont think Australia should overdo this winter cricket up North but the A team Tests against India and coming up against S Africa A are a good breeding ground for the young batsmen they need to come through asap. Hopefully some players will take their chance and we will also see more of Sam Whiteman behind the stumps. Rogers, Haddin & Harris wont last too much longer and Clarke's back might mean doesnt go on as long as we hope.

Dhawan is a waste.....We need Gambhir, a perfect match winner for WC 2015.....My squad would be -: Rohit, Gambhir, Kohli, Jadhav, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, Bhuvi, Mohit, Yadav, Akshar, Shami, Samson, Manan Vohra

Its seriously a brilliant performance by India A Team in alien conditions. Proud of you, guys. Yes, Samson deserves a chance directly in India XI as a batsman. He has been so consistent. Kedar and Rayudu should also be there in squad. Leggie Sharma needs to be tried out too. My15 member squad would be

Rohit Sharma, Dhawan, Kohli, Dhoni, Raina, Jadeja, Rayudu, Jadhav, Ashwin, Karn Sharma, Sanju Samson, Bhuvi, Mohit Sharma, Shami, Kulkarni. Hope selectors choose one like this..

Had to leave A. Patel, a big talent, only because we already have left arm spinner in jadeja and we need a leggie..

Hello friends, its goo that you people are encouraging young talent and wanted to see them in Indian squad, some you even picking up Indian team for 2015 WC, all the above comment are good and some people came up with their won WC teams,

one member i would like to add too all the teams friends, that one member i always would like to see is YUVRAJ SINGH. remember 2011 where he has shown us all what a player he is and what a big match player he is. If at all India wanted to be WC winners again then YUVI should be there in team.

All my friends may think that i am a fan of YUVI, that is why i am supporting him. NO i am not his fan, i am fan Indian Cricket and one and only The Lord of the Game (SACHIN TENDULKAR) i have stopped watching cricket after his retirement. now a days if India is playing well then only i am watching otherwise i am just changing the channel.

forget about SACHIN bcoz he is not playing, Yuvi should be there in 2015 WC squad, he is flavour of INDIAN cricket.

India A tour has shown some very promising players who need to be given a chance at the senior level, Sanju Samson surely must hve taken over Utthapa n even Saha in keeper batsman place. Great to see Tiwary step along with Kedhar when given the chance and Naman Ojha has showed his class in the longer format of the game.

Uthappa is a huge disappointment. He has proved it again that IPL success has nothing to do with International cricket, He failed in Bangladesh tour and now failing in India A visit to Australia in both Unlimited and Limited formats. I had hopes from him but I guess there had been a reason why he couldn't come back in national team for so many years after getting dropped.

Sanju gets avoided by the selectors every now and then. He has proved his mettle even before 2 yrs. In spite of that he is not getting a call to the international arena. He is the leading run scorer for India in this tournament. Even Naman, who shined earlier just in this test series got a call to England. New talented people like sanju, binny, uttappa should be given chance.
