A member of the famous Nevill family who played such a dominant role in English history, he was unmarried and, an invalid for much of his adult life, remained unmarried and left the duties of his title to his younger brother. He appeared for I Zingari against Lord Henry Nevill's (his brother) XI at Lord's in 1879. Both Nevills were making their only first-class outings.
