Chappell-Hadlee Trophy - 2nd ODI

Australia v New Zealand

New Zealand won by 6 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)

We're ready for the start.

Discuss this match and a whole lot of other stuff in Cricinfo's exclusive Facebook page.

1.50 pm local: Right we have news of the toss and New Zealand have won. They will bowl first. Not surprisingly, they are unchanged for today. We'll get you the Australian team soon.

Teams
Australia: 1 David Warner, 2 Michael Clarke (capt), 3 Brad Haddin (wk), 4 Michael Hussey, 5 David Hussey, 6 Callum Ferguson, 7 Cameron White, 8 James Hopes. 9 Mitchell Johnson, 10 Nathan Bracken, 11 Ben Hilfenhaus

New Zealand 1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Martin Guptill, 3 Peter Fulton, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Grant Elliott, 6 Neil Broom, 7 Kyle Mills, 8 Daniel Vettori (capt), 9 Tim Southee, 10 Jeetan Patel, 11 Iain O'Brien

As you can see, Australia have made quite a few changes. Ponting is taking a short break so Michael Clarke takes over the captaincy. Shaun Marsh is injured and Shaun Tait too sits out, though I'm not sure exactly why. Like we said earlier, Callum Ferguson makes his debut, Cameron White comes in and Ben Hilfenhaus replaces Tait. Oh and Michael Clarke will open in Marsh's absence.

1.35 pm: Good morning and welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the second match of the Chappel-Hadlee Series at the MCG. The game should begin in half an hour's time so sit back, relax and grab that cup of coffee. We'll bring you news of the toss and teams shortly.

Brydon Coverdale's made his way to the MCG and he has some good news for us as far as the weather goes. It's clear and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. The big news however is that Callum Ferguson, the right-hand batsman from South Australia, was presented his Australia cap just a short while ago, so we should see him in action today.

49.4

O'Brien to White, 2 runs, digs the slower ball much shorter, he swivels and pulls, the top edge is skied for a long time but it's too much for short fine leg to run back and take the catch

So New Zealand are set a funny old target of 226.These middle of the road targets can sometimes be tricky. I don't think Australia will be too thrilled with this but at least it's an improvement from the previous game. Hussey and Clarke consolidated for a long period and looked to set a platform for a bigger score but New Zealand deserve credit for bowling intelligently. The fielding was also impressive and the body language was positive too. Having said that, Clarke and Hussey did well for themselves.

This is going to be an interesting chase. Let's see if McCullum can fire today. Taking you through the second half is Siddhartha Talya. Join us in around half an hour. Cheers for now! And by the way, there's the IPL auction to give you company...
