Taylor's 46-ball ton sets up Prime Bank win

A round-up of the Dhaka Premier Division matches that took place on October 31

Centuries from Saikat Ali and Brendan Taylor - who smacked a 100 off 46 balls - helped Prime Bank CC defeat Kalabagan Cricket Academy by a huge margin of 166 runs. The Prime Bank batsmen dominated their opponents from the start as Saikat and Rumman Ahmed added 128 for the opening stand. Saikat brought up his hundred but retired hurt with the score at 187 for 1, setting the stage for a brutal assault from Taylor and Ravi Bopara. The pair added 119 runs in almost 12 overs after Saikat's exit to take Prime Bank past 300 and Taylor continued attacking the bowlers even after Bopara fell for 79. The Zimbabwe captain's blistering hundred included 14 fours and three sixes and is the 11th fastest List A hundred in cricket. In reply, Kalabagan CA were all out for 187 in the 45th over, the only resistance coming from two stands of 48 (between openers Mizanur Rahman and Abdul Mazid) and 81 - between Asif Iqbal and captain Sharifullah for the fifth wicket. Sharifullah struck a 56-ball 60 but lack of support from the other batsmen meant that Kalabagan fell short of the target.
Centuries by Usman Tariq and Imrul Kayes helped Gazi Tank Cricketers to a comfortable nine-wicket win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in Bogra, taking them to the top of the table. Gazi Tank were at 4th place at the end of the previous round. Chasing 226, Gazi Tank lost their first wicket at 40 when Aftab Ahmed was caught off Elton Chigumbura. Kayes was the more aggressive of the pair, his 104 coming off 94 balls with ten fours and five sixes. Tariq's 105 came off 114 balls with 15 fours and two sixes. Sheikh Jamal used ten bowlers, barring the wicketkeeper, but to no avail as Gazi Tank chased down the score in the 37th over. Sheikh Jamal began strongly when they were put in to bat, with their openers Jahurul Islam and Junaid Siddique adding 132 after 26 overs. Junaid fell for 60 before Jahurul was dismissed for 89 in the 34th over. The remaining batsmen collapsed after that solid start, with five wickets going down for 18 runs. A combined bowling effort restricted Sheikh Jamal to a disappointing 225 in 47.1 overs.
An all-round performance from Luke Wright helped Abahani Limited beat Victoria Sporting Club by four wickets in Savar. Wright took three wickets to keep Victoria to 234 before scoring 66. Put in to bat, Victoria got off to a strong start with the openers Soumya Sarkar and Rasel Al Mamun adding 152 in 31.1 overs. The openers fell in quick succession. The batting suffered a major collapse in the 45th over. Al-Amin removed Jobaydur Rahman and Robiul Islam in consecutive balls before Wright chipped in with his three. Victoria lost their last six wickets for 18 runs to post 234 after 50 overs. Wright's 66 off 49 balls set up the chase well and after he departed with the score on 109 for 3, the middle order finished the job with 14 balls to spare. This was Abahani's first valid victory after their only other win, against Cricket Coaching School, was deemed invalid after CCS were removed from the competition.
