BCB to investigate alleged altercation between Shakib, spectator

The BCB will investigate an alleged altercation between Shakib Al Hasan and a spectator during the first ODI against India in Mirpur. Acting CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury has said that the board will hear all sides of the story before taking any decision.

"We have heard of an incident which we will look into after the series," Nizamuddin said. "Like you, we have heard of what happened but we haven't seen. So we have to look at all sides before we can tell you anything more."

Later during the press conference, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim said the team would have to bear the brunt of the situation, irrespective of whether a player was allegedly at fault.

"It was not in my control, and I hadn't heard it when the incident happened," Mushfiqur said. "I was busy calculating what would have happened in case of a match taking place. It would be better to talk to the management. If I had known, I could have told you.

"I didn't see what happened. A lot can be said. Whatever the public says, we have to bow our heads to them. So I would say it is not just his fault, but the whole team's fault. It can be anyone, so the team has to be the sufferer."

Earlier in the year, the BCB banned Shakib for three ODIs and fined him $3800 for making inappropriate gestures on a live television broadcast during an ODI against Sri Lanka.
