Malintha Gajanayake, born on the 5th of October 1980, is a compact right handed batsman, who normally batss in the middle order. He is also a brilliant fielder. He was the Captain of the Sri Lanka U15 team in the Mini World Cup 1996. He was also a member of the U19 team in the MTN U19 World Cup in South Africa, 1998. Later, he played for the Sri Lanka U19 team in India and then was appointed as the Captain of the Sri Lanka U19 Team for the U19 World Cup that was held in Sri Lanka 2000. After the World Cup he toured England with the Sri Lanka U19 team under the leadership of Kaushalya Weeraratne. Malintha is a quality player, in the mould of Ranjan Madugalle. He has proved to be a good Captain during his school Cricket, and now plays for the Tamil Union C & AC in the U23 team. He is bright prospect for the future.
