Hello and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's live match coverage of the 1st ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand from the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, on the outskirts of Dhaka. I am Avi Singh and I will be with you for the duration of this game. Apologies in advance for any mistakes as I am on debut so please bear with me, we will endeavour to correct any errors.
New Zealand would expect nothing other than a clean sweep, with Vettori and McCullum back from paternity leave and Ryder from injury. Bangladesh are also missing Tamim Iqbal through injury.
Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bat first. Team news shortly. A good warm-up series for both sides ahead of New Zealand's tour of India and the World Cup.
Danny Morrison on the pitch report: 'Ground staff using panes of glass to shave off the grass on the pitch yesterday. Significantly less grass today, dark patches, bit brushy in places.

So Bangladesh will look back on this innings with a certain degree of ruefulness. The top six all made starts but only Shakib converted it into a half-century. The highest partnership of the innings was only 39, which explains the inability to accelerate as wickets fell at regular intervals after a fairly bright start. New Zealand on the other hand will be delighted with a professional display in humid conditions after a month's layoff. Vettori who has been out of action for even longer looked like he had never taken a break, with a masterful spell that halted Bangladesh's early momentum. Please do join our colleagues over at Mohali for the next 20 minutes where VVS Laxman threatens to foil Australia again, bad back and all. And then be sure to rejoin us for the New Zealand chase.
