An excellent stand, this. Yes, there have been plenty of boundaries but these two have also run very well between wickets. Lots of nudges and dabs on either side of the pitch to rotate the strike and the ploy has worked well. As for the boundaries, Shakib has been fed with too many deliveries in his favoured area, through point. Nafees, too, is strong through the off side. It'll be quite an achievement if they both notch up their centuries today.

Even the floodlights don't have the desired effect. That's it for the day, folks. The umpires think the light isn't good for further play and the players walk off. 22 overs lost, and it could be a problem for the remainder of the Test if the fog returns in the morning and the light fades out quickly in the evenings. That partnership between Nafees and Shakib was the highlight for the hosts. They saw off the tricky conditions in the first session and grew in confidence once the conditions eased out after lunch. They batted positively, ran brilliantly between the wickets and scored at a fair clip to take Bangladesh to a decent position. Still, net-net, despite those two contributions, it's an even day. That early burst from Pakistan's seamers yielded four wickets, causing a fair amount of damage, and the wicket of Nafees was a relief for the visitors. The light had the final say. Join us again tomorrow. It's good to see Bangladesh put up a fight, after a while. Their top order, however, will still be under great scrutiny. Before you sign off, don't forget to read Abhishek Purohit's day report. An early start tomorrow to compensate, somewhat, for the time lost, so we'll be with you at 9.00am local time. Bye.

End of over 68 (5 runs) Bangladesh 234/5

We are set to start. Shakib will take strike. Gul to bowl. Two slips and a gully

9.55am Foggy morning, but we should get play soon. The experts say the Bangladesh batsmen will need to see off the first hour, and that the track will ease out considerably after that.

9.40am Some good news. The match is scheduled to resume at 10am. So that's another 20 minutes.

9.20am There are no covers on the pitch but there seems to be a fair amount of activity around it. A cold morning, the umpires met earlier in the morning and inspected the conditions. Another delay, the light wasn't great. Misty conditions, and we'll have to wait for the play to get started.

9am local time Hello and welcome to our coverage of the second day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Mirpur. The game was scheduled to begin at 9am local time but fog has delayed proceedings once again. Only 68 overs were possible yesterday due to a delayed start and then bad light towards the end of the day. Bangladesh put up a fight with the bat, reaching 234 for 5 after a poor start. Hopefully the delay isn't long. We'll get you the updates as and when we have them.

Andy Flower played for zimbabwe under similar circumstances & also kept wickets but his average is on the 50s. It doesn't matter whether the score is 50/4 or 300/4 when Shakib comes to the wicket.
