Offspinner Sohag Gazi and medium-pacer Abul Hasan have been selected in Bangladesh's Test squad for the first time, for the opening match of the home series against West Indies in Mirpur from November 13. Gazi, 21, who has 11 wickets including a hat-trick and a century from the two NCL matches this season, was included to balance the presence of two specialist left-arm spinners while Hasan was picked because of his extra pace.

"We have been looking for a genuine offspinner for a long time, and he's [Gazi] been doing well," Akram Khan, the new chief selector, said. "He bowled well during Barisal's first game. West Indies also have a few left-handers, so we took the offspinner."

Gazi earned his call-up on the back of some impressive performances in domestic as well as representative cricket in the last two years. His 87 first-class wickets have come at an average of 24.12 from 18 matches. He was preferred over Enamul Haque Jr, another left-arm spinner, because of the variety he adds. Enamul also lost out to Elias Sunny for the second left-arm spinner's role behind Shakib Al Hasan.

"Enamul is bowling brilliantly, but there's a lot of competition among the left-arm spinners here," Akram said. "We discussed with Saqlain [Mushtaq] and decided to go with Elias Sunny, because he did well in the last Test, his economy rate too is very good.

Hasan, a 20-year-old fast bowler from Sylhet who has played four T20Is, was included as a pace option on a Mirpur pitch that has offered some help to the fast bowlers in the recent first-class matches.

The concern, however, is regarding the batsmen at the top of the order. Nazimuddin and Junaid Siddique are the two contenders for the second opener's role to partner Tamim Iqbal while Naeem Islam, who has scored two centuries for Rangpur division in the NCL, could take the No. 4 spot. However, with the practice match in Savar being called off, there was still a lack of clarity about selections for some positions.

"We wanted the three-day match to be played because we are concerned about two or three places," Akram said. "We considered reputation, the last two Test series and overall experience to pick the first Test team.

"We have tried to play the same team in ODIs and T20s. We play fewer Tests and we haven't played one in 11 months. I think there are a few places that are up for grabs, and whatever we are looking for, no one has established themselves in those positions."

Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), Mahmudullah (vice-capt), Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Shahriar Nafees, Shakib Al Hasan, Naeem Islam, Nazimuddin, Nasir Hossain, Elias Sunny, Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Abul Hasan, Sohag Gazi.

No matter what the state of Bangladesh Cricket is, they'll be around for a very long time so the critics just need to get use to it :P

Leageleagle, then finally you have disclosed your identity. You are a Pakistani but I have always thought you an Indian. How fool I was.I should have understood that.Other Bangladeshis who also know him now come to realization which team should be your favorite other than Bangladesh.Do you think it is Pakistan?

It will be very difficult for Bangladesh team !! Because they are playing test match after 11 month. I thing Bangladesh team can not play well their first innings :( But they will improve form 2nd innings :) Best wishes for Bangladesh Cricket Team.

I am felling proud that i am Bangladeshi :)

@ Legaleagle : Yup! Cricket fans ran out of Patience due to tortoise speed progress of Bangladesh. But most of them r lucky enough not to experience early days of PK, NZ etc. Probably they would've run out of patience for decades of poor per4mace No doubt according to MATCH RECORDS, BD's per4mance is worst among Test playing nations. But a nation can't improve in longer version until they had a good First Class competition. Lack of such competition hurts BD. But ur PK improved thru lot of FC tournaments like Province & Department based 4 day tournaments. Also cricket was not most popular sport b4 1997 in BD. So 15 years might not enough to improve a First Class cricket culture in BD as a whole.

Also cheers Cricinfo for the preview of the series great articles as well. If you could provide us with some audio/video coverage i.e. interviews, press conferences that would be great cheers!

Very surprised Enamul Haque Junior was not selected big mistake from selectors and why Abul Hasan? his performances in this seasons NCL is below par should've picked Nazmul who is one of the few best fast bowlers we have in the locker. Also Nazimuddin why? not in form and bad scores in NCL really hope Junaid and Shariar are picked ahead of him. Shahriar Nafees may get a lot of criticism from Bangladesh fans but he's one of the few experience players we have and has the patience to play in this game.

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 11, 2012, 0:11 GMT)

I think its worth a gamble giving a slot to the young Sohag Gazi could be arising star for Bangladesh for all we know. Having too many SLA bowlers is not really a good idea and can be predictable for batsman. However then again, Sunny picked up a 7 wicket haul against this team last time out so its a tough decision. No need to play 3 fast bowlers on slow pitches you can get away with it.

Posted by EnglishCricket on (November 11, 2012, 0:07 GMT)

Difference between the two sides is Gayle if he stays in then its probably game over if you get him out early then there's a game. But this series actually looks quite interesting considering both teams successes over the past year. Nevertheless looks likely West Indies will just about snatch this 2-0.

Posted by Legaleagle on (November 10, 2012, 21:49 GMT)

@ M_Rakibul_Isam: Cricket fans have ran out of patience for Bangladesh with its consistent pathetic performance across all formats. With the exceptions of 1 or 2 wins here and there, Bangladesh team has not improved over the past 12 years. Record speaks for itself.

Any series with Bangladesh is considered as a write off at different levels such as broadcast money, quality of cricket from Bangladesh, and above all any kind of challenge to the touring team. Opposition teams cannot even gain worthwhile ranking points because Bangladesh is always at the bottom of the table.

I hope Bangladesh can rise as a force to reckon with at least in their own backyard. Again, my (and Pakistan's) heartiest wishes to West Indies to steamroll Bangladesh!! INSHALLAH!!

Who is this Abul!!! He has played only 6 FC match & took 8 wickets. How can he get preference over Nazmul & Shafiul? He is only 20. Let him be more experienced playing FC cricket another 2/3 years. I think Nazmul is the best pacer after Mashrafee. Sellectors will have to bring back Nazmul & Enamul 4 the 2nd test, mark it.

abul,gazi are new,they should be in odi or t20 first:1.tamim 2.nazimuddin,3.junaed.4.shakib.5.mamuddullah.6.mushfiq.7.nasir8.shahadat.9.rubel. 10.taskin or najmul.11.elias. the best squad.

Batting is fine but bowing is an issue. I think there's no need to use more than 2 fast bowlers. But I wonder if its worth swapping Sunny for Gazi?

Posted by TheRisingTeam on (November 10, 2012, 11:18 GMT)

Indian fan but really hope Bangladesh can play competitive and exciting Cricket. Its now or never and there's no excuse for them to fail. West Indies are in a fantastic position hope Gayle scores another 100 with big shots all over the place.

@ Legaleagle: Yeah! & it'll give u a mental satisfaction as u always cheer up for failures of Bangladesh cricket team. Everyone knows WI r favorites. They r gonna win the series. But a true cricket fan always hope for the improvement of Minnows to increase competitiveness at top level. But u always show ur attitude against improvement of BD team. @Maruf Hasan: Mahmudullah is more experienced guy & has experience of facing toughness of Test Cricket. His form isn't good in few months. But he came back well when he was out of form in the past. Scoring Test hundred in adverse condition in NZ shows that he has the class. He also 5-wicket haul against WI.

Interesting series! looks clear to me that spin will play a major factor. I hope for Bangladesh sake they do well and make a statement. As for West Indies what no better time to start achieving your ultimate goals after winning World Championship, return of top players, playing Bangladesh next make the most of it.

The Team looks good. but the fast bowling unit look frail. Feel sorry for Enamul Haque jr. for not making the cut, but too many left arm spinners in the team is not adding value. rather, an additional off-spinner is a good choice. We will have to wait and see how effective Gazi will be and I wish him luck. Nazimuddin in the team defy any logic, given that there are 3 openers already. Middle order specialists should have been preferred. Since Junaid & Naeem are in form, Naffes should play at No.5 to handle the 2nd new ball in place of Nasir. my team line-up would be... Tamim, Junaid, Naeem, Shakib, Nafees, Mohammadullah, Mushfiq, Shahadat, Ellias, Gazi, Rubel.

Posted by   on (November 9, 2012, 19:19 GMT)

if gazi is not picking for plying, why he is selected. in stead of mahmudullah, he should be picked . tamim, junaed ,nafeez, naeem, sakib, musfiq, nasir, gazi, sunny, shahdad and rubel. why picked up mahmudullah, only for vice captaincy? if enamul jh can be dropped only for team combination, why mahmudullah can not be dropped? team first

Posted by   on (November 9, 2012, 19:16 GMT)

i dont know why bangladeshi selecter keep taking nazim uddin in squad . mominul or anamul(Bijoy) would have best option if we consider performence . another word to anamul haque who is continuing performing but did not geting enough chance ?why nazmul hussin not in test test squad? why abul hussin in test squad ? i think theay should be more realistic . experience plyers should get more chance in test ? abul hussain need play t20 and odi first then should come to play test .this is bd main problem theay have to think first that new players first let them play odi and then let them play test . who are good performing in national league if those players experience let them play test and who are is younger let them play t20 and ODI i still dont know why syed russel is playing in odi. i think ilyas is ok for test but theay could include anamul in best 15 .

Posted by The_Aeroboy on (November 9, 2012, 17:40 GMT)

to lessen the workload on shakib BD should play 2 spinners as elias, shohag...junaid 2 open with tamim, naeem at no. 3, his domestic performance is great no. 3, followed by nasir, shakib, mushfiq, mahmudullah, gazi... 2 pacers is enough, mirpur wouldn't offer much to the pacers & this case shadat & rubel may b the best choice... though i have huge doubt over the quality of bd pacers... btw good luck BD, at least make some contest...

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 9, 2012, 16:48 GMT)

Final thing Bangladesh team needs to stop relying on Tamim and Shakib doing all the work otherwise you will just fail as a team. Everyone needs to put their hands up and contribute bat, ball and/or field.

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 9, 2012, 16:46 GMT)

Bangla fans need to realise that Mahmudullah is a right arm off spinner and has improved somewhat as a bowler and because Bangladesh have the perfect spin coach to guide him, I'm sure he'll provide a valuable service with the ball. He may not be inform with the bat but his 100 against New Zealand and 96* against India is proof just how valuable he is in the team. Experience is vital and feel that the best Bangladeshi players should only play tests for their team.

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 9, 2012, 16:43 GMT)

My final XI - Tamim, Shahriar, Zunaid, Naeem, Shakib, Nasir, Rahim, Mahmudullah, Sunny, Rubel and Abul.

Didn't know the youngest test 100 maker is a Bangladeshi interesting stuff.

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 9, 2012, 16:41 GMT)

I know these teams met last year where West Indies just about won but since then the Bangladesh though yet underdogs going into this series have improved somewhat especially since they had that BPL of theirs. Confidence was one of the things that Bangladesh lacked before the BPL now they have it but I still expect West Indies to win this just but will be tough very tough in my mind.

I don't know what else a player has to do to make a comeback! Enamul Haque Jr. is the most consistent bowler in our country and this is how they rewarded him for his hard work.. Sad.. Very sad.

Posted by   on (November 9, 2012, 5:13 GMT)

I am bit differ with Mr. Akram Khan regarding Elias Sunny, because Enamul Junior is the most consistent performer in the recent past. Last test performance of both of them is mixed. So, i would prefer Enamul to Sunny. Any way I think Its a good decision to pick Sohag Gazi as a right arm off break against WI consisting of more left arm batsman. Best of luck Bangladesh. My Team - Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), Mahmudullah (vice-capt), Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Shakib Al Hasan, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Elias Sunny, Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Sohag Gazi.

Posted by WesternB on (November 9, 2012, 4:34 GMT)

Bangladesh needs a good wicket keeper and a express bowler. Shahriar Nafees & Nazimuddin should improve their batting style as they r very slow & boring. Elias Sunny needs to improve his variety in bowling. He should at present bowl very economically & help Sakib. Best 11 and the batting order should be look like this according to my opinion 1# Tamim Iqbal 2# Junaid Siddique 3# Shakib Al Hasan 4# Mahmudullah 5#Mushfiqur Rahim 6# Nasir Hossain 7#Naeem Islam 8# sohag 9# shaddat 10# rubel 11# ellias

Posted by Quddus-Mamu on (November 9, 2012, 2:31 GMT)

Taskin Ahmed was better than Abul. Sohag Gazi is a good pick, hope he gets a chance to play.

Posted by Proud_GhorJamai on (November 8, 2012, 22:32 GMT)

yeah the bowling is weak...but we are forgetting about one other guy...shakib..the guy took 5 wickets and scored 140 against sure he can destroy windies.. so.. hey..we got shakib :)

best 11 should be look like this 1# tamim 2# junaieed 3# nafees 4# mahmuduallah 5#sakib 6# musfiq 7#nasir 8# sohag 9# shaddat 10# rubel 11# ellias

I Think This is the Best 12 Selected Except for 2 i can Agree With...Excellent Stuff from Akram Khan i Have to say...In the Past We have seen some Very Poor Selectors Which Caused BD Team greatly....I Would Like to See This XI 1.Tamim 2.Nazimuddin 3.Shahriar Nafees 4.Naeem Islam 5.Shakib Al Hasan 6.Mushfiqur Rahim 7.Nasir Hossain 8.Mahmudullah?Sohag Gazi 9.Elias Sunny 10.Rubel Hossain 11.Abul Hasan/Shahadat(though i believe Both of this are Ordinary)...

Posted by Purbo23 on (November 8, 2012, 20:11 GMT)

can't understand the reason of the inclusion of Abul Hasan right now. Is he an outstanding performer or semi performer in recent on going NCL or wherever in past ??For Shohag Gazi, congrats. hope he is not early in International level. Besides, don't like the form of Shariar right now. so my Xl will be- 1.Tamim 2.Junaed, 3.Musfiq, 4.Nayeem, 5.Shakib,6. Mahmudullah,7. Nasir,8. Gazi,9. Sunny, 10.Shahadat, 11.Rubel

Posted by TwohedulAzam on (November 8, 2012, 20:09 GMT)

I think what everyone forgot is Nazimuddin's last series performance against pakistan in December 2011. He has done very well in that series while most other batsmen failed. And even prior to that series he played well in NCL and thats why the selector took him at the time. Yes, his form is not great at the moment but his over all first class stat and experience is way better than Zunaeed and Shahriar, plus his inclusion will ensure left- right combination with Tamim. Zunaeed only scored a hundred in this NCL, let him play and score some more before he makes a comeback. So, in my opinion the first 11 should be like this: 1. Tamim 2.Nazimuddin 3.Shahriar (as his last test innings was for 97) 4.Shakib 5.Naeem 6.Mushfiq 7.Nasir 8.Mahmudullah/Sunny 9. Gazi 10 Shahadat 11 Rubel.

Yes, if BD wants a strong bowling line up then they will have to make brave decision of playing without their vice captain as his form is in question for sometime! Otherwise Gazi should get a chance over Sunny.

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 8, 2012, 18:58 GMT)

Well this also just shows that Bangladesh needs a fast bowling program. The pitches don't help first of all so it would be ideal to make your Cricket grounds that isn't used for International matches bouncy and fast basic stuff.

Posted by The_Ashes on (November 8, 2012, 18:56 GMT)

Its too late now although the batting is fine, bowling is a cause of concern. I predict a 2-0 test series win to West Indies. The Bangladesh selectors need to realise that this team has players that can jsut take the game away from Bangladesh in a session like Gaye, Samuels etc

Posted by AzAb12754 on (November 8, 2012, 18:47 GMT)

Abu Hasan is has poor fielding skills and if he does have a bad game then I don't think he'll be selected for a long while. Rubel is an ODI specialist and still not 100% fit. Shahadat and Nazimuddin still selected even though they cost us the Asia Cup truly unhappy. Shahriar is a good choice because he's experience and has the temperament plus a handy slip silly point fielder.

Posted by AzAb12754 on (November 8, 2012, 18:44 GMT)

@Matthew Richards: Dude how are Bangladesh SLA average? they have probably the best set in World Cricket check their stats and compare them to other left arm spinners then get back to me :)

Posted by AzAb12754 on (November 8, 2012, 18:42 GMT)

@S-A-M-1994: Exactly how are Afghanistan better than Bangladesh? this article has nothing to do with them :)

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 18:39 GMT)

I believe Sohag Gazi will get a chance to prove himself. So far he got all sorts of Variety with his off-spin bowling & can make a good resistance in low middle miss MASH n Shafiul in peace attack. The final squad for Test sud be like that:1.Tamim Iqbal 2.Junaid Siddique/Sharier Nafees 3.Nayeem 4.Musfiqur Rahim 5.Sakib Al Hasan 6.Nasir Hossain 7.Mahmudullah 8.Sohag Gazi 9.Shahadat Hossain 10.Elias Sunny and 11.Rubel Hossain.

i think enamul jr well deserved for short list..unjustice for him...

Posted by reyme on (November 8, 2012, 18:10 GMT)

These selectors should be fired. They are way too conservative. Abul, Nazim, Nafees, Rubel are all off form. Anamul, Mominul, Enamul are in superb form and match winners. So after Nazim, Nafees fails miserably in the 1st Test, and the Test is lost by an inning the selectors will finally drop them and pick up Mominul and Anamul. These are indeed the dumbest selectors among any Test Teams. They cause more trouble than good.

Good selection. Sorry for Enamul Haque Jr. He is performing good last couple of years but Bangladesh have too many Left hand spinner. Actually Bangladesh have Quality World class left hand spinner than any other team. Example Shakib al Hasan, Elias Sunny, Enamul Haque Jr. Saqlain Sajib, Sorowardi Shuvo, and Abdur Razzak etc..

Posted by M_Rakibul_Islam on (November 8, 2012, 15:32 GMT)

BD shouldn't have picked those freshman like Abul & Gazi for a test series. They can debut in ODI format. Nazmul & Enamul deserve those 2 spots. As Gazi already has been in the squad, he can b in the main XI if the pitch is slow & spinning one. The main XI can b like this- 1.Tamim, 2.Junaid, 3.Nafees, 4.Naeem/Nasir, 5.Shakib, 6.Mushfiq, 7.Mahmudullah, 8.Sunny, 9.Gazi, 10.Shahadat, 11.Rubel.

Posted by M_Rakibul_Islam on (November 8, 2012, 15:27 GMT)

@ S-A-M-1994: Keep Afghans haven't win a series vs Ire. While by each & every statistics BD is far ahead of Ire winning 5 of 7 ODIs & 3 of 4 T20Is vs Ire. BD & Zim r weaker side than top 8 test playing nations. But still Afghan side has no match with BD or Zim.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 15:25 GMT)

i think every logic is acceptable for selecting the squad except nazimuddin. i hope he would be not selected in the main11 as he had very bad performance in asia cup along with no such impressive outcome in domestic.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 15:19 GMT)

Good and best team at the moment I think except Abul. Nazmul or Shafiul could be better choice than him. Bad luck for Enamul Jr. who is going to be our Stuart MacGill. Sohag Gazi should be picked in best XI.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 15:12 GMT)

Nazmul Should be there in place of Rubel or Abul Hasan. He can take early wickets with new ball. Rubel has poor record in Tests.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 14:56 GMT)

The 11 from that final squad should be this - 01.Tamim, 02.Nafees, 03.Zunaed, 04.Naeem, 05.Shakib, 06.Rahim, 07.Nasir, 08.Mahmdullah, 09.Gazi, 10.Rubel, 11.Abul or Shahadat or you can drop Nasir and play Sunny.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 14:45 GMT)

If Bangladesh use two pacers and 9 players who can bat then there's no excuse for them to score less than <499.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 14:44 GMT)

Too much gossiping about bowlers, but I seriously concerned about the batting. Nazim, Junaid, Naeem are given chance again though these old guys failed again and again and still of no use. Better try Anamul, Mominul or some other performers. And Abul is always an aboooool, will be of no use at test match. He will definitely be punished. Whereas, left-arm spinners are always doing well, why so much testing for the spot of left-arm spinners??

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 14:42 GMT)

Another innings lost waiting for us I guess batting is fine but bowling selection got all messed up. Enamul who has improved as a bowler and highest wicket taker in NCL this season still dropped? the only person in Bangladesh that has a 10 or 12 wicket haul in tests don't understand. Why is this squad so defensive though? 9 possible batsman in the lineup is not good at all. Gayle could break Brian Lara record for all we know.

Shahriar nafees , nazimuddin and abul hasan shouldnt been picked in first place. Mahmudullah is also in bad form. My squad : tamim, junaid, naeem, mushfiq, shakib, mahmudullah, nasir, sohag gazi, elias sunny, shahadat, rubel. 2nd test i want to see enanmul huq jr, anamul hauque and mominul hauque

Our main focus will be… 1, T Iqbal, 2, S al HASSAN, 3, J Siddiqe, and 4, E Sunny.. As per the fast match performance we can change for 2nd test… best of BD cricket… regards Asif.

Out of this 14 men squad, if Naffes, Nazimuddin and Shahadat are excluded, that would result as our best 11 with the current selection.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 13:26 GMT)

my team: tamim, junaed, nafeez, naeem, sakib, musfiq, nasir, gazi, suny, shahdad and rudel. mahmudullah will not be good selection according to his performence.

Afganistan is better than Bangladesh!!!!! you make me smile....nice joke Bangladesh is better than India.... Now our team is looks like world class team.... Bangladesh Team for WI: Tamim, Junaed, Nafiz, Naeem, Sakib, Musfiq, Nasir, Mahmudullah, Sunny, Sahadat & Rubel... But in 2nd test...plz give a chance Enamul Jnr. Good Luck Bangladesh...

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 13:05 GMT)

elias sunny is probably the most suitable test bowler for bangladesh with his variation in flight and balls that tempt batsmen to come forward, which is what you need for test matches - you gotta make the batsman play your ball. Shakib, sunny and another offspinner - all good for spin dept. For pace, shahadat hossain? really?! useless moaner! whats wrong with shaiful islam? Shafiul - rubel would be the best. i did not like abul hossain either, i hope he improved recently.

REALLY SHOCKING! Selectors think NEW GAZI is better than EXPERIENCED nd in GREAT form ENAMUL jnr!!! I think he should b in d top 11. Selectors think NEW ABUL is better than EXPERIENCED NAZMUL! GREAT JOKE! by d way they should rest abul, nafees nd gazi 4m d 1st test! Really POOR 2 see BCB is over interested with NEW than experienced nd INFORM PERFORMERS!

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 12:44 GMT)

wow a bangladeshi bowler who isn't another average left arm spinner

Posted by ahmadmusa on (November 8, 2012, 12:38 GMT)

Selection is good.But I actually disappointed with this squad probably lose nazmul,anamul & enamul.nazimuddn & nafees are still there in the team.there performens is very i want the final 11- 01.tamim 02.junaid 03.shakib 04.naeem 05.nasir 06.rahim 07.mahmudullah 08.shahadat 09.sunny 10.rubel 11.gazi.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 12:27 GMT)

I am fully disappointed with this team. Enamul, Mominul and nazmul deserved to be selected. But they took Sunny, Nafees and Shahadat instead of them. Shahat and Abul is expert in giving away runs. Rubel has just recovered from an injury. So the team is laking pacers.

S-A-M-1994** is drunk i guess nd has no knowledge about int. cricket at funny to see these nerds posting comments here....ha ha what a of 2012 so u know what is cricket nd how is it played....funny lil joker!!!

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 12:25 GMT)

their abdur razzaq should play in for elias coz he is much experienced and is much better than sunny.....

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 12:18 GMT)

@ S-A-M-1994-We are talking about Bangladesh here not Afghanistan so stick with the subject!

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 11:56 GMT)

Well, Squad looks good I think we miss our main blower MAS, hopefully Ruble ll cove that side, in the test must be in the 11th squad, Junaid Siddique, & Shahriar Nafees, both are more experience which is very important. For the test match. Nazimuddin maybe ODI OR T20 but in the not test. And I would like to thanks management they didn't take Ashrifull. Which is very good. In thus torment we expected good gums, I wish all the best all of you. Best of luck BD cricket, and best of luck BD. Warm regards Asif.

BCC Where is Enamul Jr and Anamul Haque. Most performing player at this moment.should pick up the rest of match.Saqlain Mushtaq still i dont understand this view.sakib lost his ususal performing and enamul is really excelent on a days without any word. odi mominul and alauding babu should be taken.sharir nafiz performing is nt good now a days. team should be like this01.Tamim, 02., 02.Junaid, 03.Naeem, 04.Shakib, 05.Rahim, 06.Nasir, 07.mahmudullah, 08.Sunny, 10.Rubel, 11.shahadad hussin

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 11:19 GMT)

Perfect selection, just a bit unsure about Abul Hasan.

Posted by AzAb12754 on (November 8, 2012, 11:05 GMT)

Gazi swapping Sunny is a huge gamble but may be worth it. I hope Mushtaq guides this very young man plus he can bat so interesting. Sunny got 7 wickets against West Indies last time so tough decision. No Nazimuddin!! Shahriar and Junaid have better records much better than him.

Posted by ExtremeSpeed on (November 8, 2012, 10:47 GMT)

Actually disappointed with this squad probably lose now I mean no Nazmul? even though he averages 32 in tests where like Rubel 86? I think the goal is to lose by what I'm seeing anyway this is how the final 11 should be now - 01.Tamim, 02.Shahriar, 03.Junaid, 04.Naeem, 05.Shakib, 06.Rahim, 07.Nasir, 08.Rahim, 09.Sunny, 10.Rubel, 11.Abul.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 10:13 GMT)

In my advice BD selector that they shouldn't select first test Abul Hussain, Nazimuddin & Suny. Rest all are ok. If you want to more competitive & fight against WI.

Posted by Sarfin on (November 8, 2012, 10:06 GMT)

Feeling sorry for Enamu jr. He is should get a chance based on his recent performance and talent. He can spin the ball more than others. He should get a place in second Test given Sunny doesn't pull a wonder in Mirpur. I'd love to see Shakib, Sunny, Gazi along with Shahadat and Rubel in the final squad of the 1st Test. With part timers like Mahmudullah and Nasir, this attack can create enough trouble in home condition. Gazi and Sunny can bat a bit too.

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 10:05 GMT)

oh dear!there is no enamul hoque jnr. he should pick up for the playing 11 replace of elias sunny.

Posted by S-A-M-1994 on (November 8, 2012, 10:00 GMT)

WI ill win easily.Afghanistan is far better than Bangalideshi team

Posted by colombo_SL on (November 8, 2012, 9:56 GMT)

Like to see the performance of these new guys! Waiting to see a good series. Wish success for both teams!

Posted by Rafelgibt on (November 8, 2012, 9:56 GMT)

I'm really shock to see the 14 man squad for the 1st test match......Where is Enamul Jr and Anamul Haque???This is really an injustice to both of them.....One got century and another got 6 wickets in last innings that they played..........and still no call???Why Abul Hasan is in the team with Rubel and Shahadat???Is BAN going to play with 3 pacers???Old proven failure players like Nazimuddin and Nafees are still there in the team!!!!What else could you ask for???Im really getting angry and disappointed>>>>>>>>

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 9:43 GMT)

Enamul Hoque jr (left arm spinner) should have been included in place of sunny..

Naeem should be in the eleven.. Abul, its still unexplainable

Posted by   on (November 8, 2012, 9:41 GMT)

Nice to see Siddique in the squad but don't know why Hasan & Nazimuddin in the side?

Nazimuddin, Abul Hasan, Shohag Gazi shouldn't be include in the first test match.

Posted by Third_Gear on (November 8, 2012, 9:41 GMT)

Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mahmudullah (vc), Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Shakib Al Hasan, Naeem Islam,Nasir Hossain, Shohag Gazi, Elias Sunny, Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain.

Shohag Gazi's selection has brought some variation in spin attack and he can be a handy batter at the end.... But still don't like the retention of Nazimuddin, in his place a young batter like Anamul or Mominul or even Jahurul would have been better.

Posted by Fareen on (November 8, 2012, 9:18 GMT)

I clearly don't understand what Enamul Haque Jnr. has to do to get a call up....Frankly Elias sunny did well but he's not as good as Enamul. And jahurul would have been a good choice rather than junaid.

Posted by asiacricket1234 on (November 8, 2012, 9:11 GMT)

Why Abul Hossain??? He gives like 10run per over :O U cant pick a player based on his performance in club cricket :/

am very eager to know as to which channel will be telecasting this series in india?

Posted by riprock on (November 8, 2012, 8:50 GMT)

I think this series will be telecast on Neo Cricket in they hold the tv rights for B'desh. What happened to Mashrafe Mortaza?.. most likely 11.. T.Iqbal, J.Siddique, S.Nafees, Nasir Hussain, Shakib, M.Rahim, Mahmudullah, Elias Sunny, R.Hasan, Shahadat Hossain, Shohag Gazi. B'desh can surely give a good fight with their array of specialist and part-time spinners..should be fun to watch if they do

Posted by Gowza on (November 8, 2012, 8:43 GMT)

nazmul, anamul and mominul should have been in the squad. pacers are all about pace but are way to wayward needed nazmul's better control to have someone steady there. anamul and mominul have been scoring well for the last 1-2 years in the top 3 positions which is a weak part in BD's batting line-up.

-_- where is enamul ? bcb has been avoiding some talented player
