Big Picture
With the bat, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kieran Powell and Denesh Ramdin got big runs, and the failures of Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels didn't have a serious impact on the team.
The major highlight for Bangladesh was debutant offspinner Sohag Gazi's returns of nine wickets in the game. Rubel Hossain fought back in the second innings and Shahadat Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan had their moments, but they were inconsistent.
Bangladesh, however, will be watchful of how their batsmen react after their capitulation in the second innings. They posted their first-ever 500-plus score, in the first innings, and even gained a small lead, but the chase went poorly. Just as Bangladesh faced the prospect of a Test victory, their feet froze and West Indies took advantage. Bangladesh's plan would be to make West Indies work hard for wickets, but it still could be a stiff task on a track on which not a lot of cricket has been played recently.
Form guide
Players to watch
Chris Gayle will be expected to come back hard against Bangladesh, after he was thwarted by spin in the first innings and pace in the second in Mirpur. A fast start with his strokeplay could diffuse Bangladesh's plans.
Pitch and conditions
The weather has been unpredictable over the last two weeks. There was a cold spell earlier this month but ahead of the Test it has been hot and sultry with a threat of rain due to a depression at the Bay of Bengal nearby.
Team news
Bangladesh (possible): 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Nazimuddin/Anamul Haque, 3 Shahriar Nafees, 4 Naeem Islam, 5 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 6 Shakib Al Hasan, 7 Mahmudullah (vice-capt), 8 Nasir Hossain, 9 Sohag Gazi, 10 Shahadat Hossain, 11 Rubel Hossain.
Darren Sammy has hinted at continuing with the same line-up that played in the first Test. Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who didn't field for much of the previous game, is fit, and the likelihood of using Fidel Edwards as a third pace bowler has diminished due to Permaul's impressive debut.
West Indies (possible): 1 Chris Gayle, 2 Kieran Powell, 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Marlon Samuels, 5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 6 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 7 Darren Sammy (capt), 8 Sunil Narine, 9 Ravi Rampaul, 10 Veerasammy Permaul, 11 Tino Best

Quotes
"Last year we drew the first Test, this year we won it. We have one more Test to go and we'd do everything to win this Test match. We want to win the series 2-0."
Darren Sammy says what the target is in Khulna.

BD team should get rid of Nazimuddin and Nafees. Replace them with Anamul and Mominul. Find couple of effective fast bowlers with good pace and bounce ASAP.
Posted by urmi-alam on (November 21, 2012, 2:46 GMT)A good wish for Tamim, he is only one player who can change the direction of play. But I afraid about his mod. He is very emotional. Hopefully he will play for the country, his out will be for the country. I pray for his better success.
Posted by AKM_Saifullah on (November 21, 2012, 2:45 GMT)If the lady luck smiles at Mushy during toss, we would expect BD batters to take the guard on the opening session of day 1. Tamim should play his natural game. While Nazimuddin/Anamul and Nafees should see the morning through. Do not flash or chase after wide deliveries against the likes of Tino or Ravi. Sakib should play his own game. The team will once again look at Nayeem and Mushy for gritty innings. Testing time for the tigers. Hopefully they will pull this through.
Posted byGod bless Tamim, Go go go go tamim, we love you tamim, we are waiting for your explosive batting, Do it for Bangladesh, do it for your mother land, There is no option to do it . Get relax and do not do any hurry. Tray to play naturally and do not try to do extra ordinary. we want to see our normal Tamim,- Good wishes from philippines,
Posted byShahadat in seriously?! Might as well play Enamul Haque Jr. The only time shahadat did good was when he got 6/27 vs. south africa!
Posted by Sadequl on (November 20, 2012, 18:57 GMT)Pls BCB for god sake do justify the performance of home cricket & pick "Anamul" instead of "Nazimuddin" for 2nd test in Khulna.
Posted by Ahsan-cric-freak on (November 20, 2012, 18:45 GMT)Bangladesh is going to be hammered badly by Gayle's double ton in this test i guess:D Bangla can't win unless they take 20 wickets and for that they will have to find a useful pace attack.....!
Posted byAfter propagating an abounding hope of winning the first Test match, the Tigers succumbed to defeat as of late! The debacle entailed by the Nemesis, known as "inconsiderate batting." Inconsiderate batting in the 4th innings. The tigers couldn't breach the siege of the Caribbean Hunters and had to countermand and head to their strongholds. Their jurisdiction in the Sunderbans has been confiscated by the Caribbean Hunters. Hopes for our tigers never evanesce. The Guardians have vowed to retrieve their demesne in the second Test that has been infiltrated upon. They have a very good reputation of coming back strong for they're obstinate and audacious to the bone. The Guardians long for the chance of climbing one step higher to the top of the Food Chain. Whereas, the Hunters contemplate on leading another incursion. Waiting to see the Tigers reveling in the flesh and gore of their prey...... Khulna awaits and so do we.......
Posted by K.A.K on (November 20, 2012, 18:16 GMT)WI is on the rise, Bangladesh is at a plateau. BCB need to schedule more good cricket for its players, including visit to Paksitan.
Posted by hasib9 on (November 20, 2012, 16:13 GMT)Why Shahaha Husain again? Why not someone like Sayed Russel who had always provided with early wickets. Shafiul and Rubel have too high average to call themselves test bowlers. Probably time for a new pair of fast bowlers.
