West Indies in Bangladesh 2012-13 December 8, 2012

Sohag Gazi picked for one-off West Indies T20

Offspinner Sohag Gazi, who claimed Man-of-the-Match awards on Test and ODI debut during West Indies' ongoing tour of Bangladesh, has been named in the hosts' 14-man squad for the one-off Twenty20. Batsmen Anamul Haque and Mominul Haque, who also debuted during this tour, have made the squad too.

The fourth among Bangladesh's debutants, Abul Hasan, who scored a century from No. 10 in the Khulna Test, is the only newcomer to miss out: he is yet to recover from the side strain he suffered in the second ODI in Khulna. The injured Shakib Al Hasan, who was advised six weeks rest due to a shin injury, expectedly wasn't picked.

Batsmen Mohammad Ashraful and Junaid Siddique, and allrounder Farhad Reza, who were part of the squad that played the World Twenty20, were not named in this squad.

This year, Bangladesh played their most Twenty20s, winning four out of eight games. The match against West Indies is set to be played in Mirpur on December 10.

Come on WI, this shouldn't be a difficult assignment. After all u r the champs in this format. U have the 'shoulders' to put it out of the park. U r playing a real minnow in the thru sense of the word. Demand some respect WI. Gayle needs to teach this Gazi guy a real lesson. Good luck countrymen.

I really like Anamul, but I would not play him in the T20 match. I think the kid is all class, & should concentrate on ODIs & Tests. == == == MY side would of been (assuming Shakib is unavailable) 1. Tamim, 2. Nafees, 3. Siddique, 4. Rahim, 5. Nasir, 6. Naeem, 7. Mahmudullah, 8. Shuvo, 9. Rahman, 10. Sunny. 11. Sohag, 12th Mominal

What is the problem with people here, always crying to take Ashraful back in the squad? He has been given way too many opportunities, and he misused ALL of them. No point in taking in an irresponsible player, regardless of how much talent he possesses.

@Rakibul: Gazi was not MOM in 1st test. It was POWEL, isn't it?
