West Indies in Bangladesh ODI Series - 2nd ODI

Bangladesh v West Indies

Bangladesh won by 160 runs

Righto, Anamul Haque and Tamim Iqbal are at the middle. Ravi Rampaul to start.

Isam from the ground: "Prothom Alo's Ariful Islam Roney asked Kieron Pollard after the end of the first game whether picking Smith was a better option. He said, "We can do all the talking but if he doesn't score in the next game, what will you ask me?" -- We have to wait and see."

Shaun: "Tigers should play their natural game of attacking. Batting first they have to score 275+ total to contain WI. Tamim, Mushfiq and Nasir should play the anchors to give the debutants breathing space."

So Bangladesh, who are without Shakib in this series, are batting first. It's a morning start and as Mashrafe Mortaza said yesterday, the first hour will be crucial for the batsmen. Will West Indies open the bowling again with Marlon Samuels? They are a little light in the pace department today with no Kemar Roach.

Toss: The news from the ground is that West Indies have won the toss and have decided to field first. They have made one change in the team - Dwayne Smith comes in for Kemar Roach. Bangladesh are going in with the same XI that played the last match.

Mohammad Isam from the ground: " Longer queues outside and again a full house is expected. Both teams trained yesterday, even though West Indies were not scheduled to. Nine members of West Indies' team came to training with coach Ottis Gibson also bowling in the nets."

8.20 am: At the start of the series, Darren Sammy had said he wanted to win the series 5-0. But Bangladesh reminded West Indies that they are going to be no pushovers with a big win in the first ODI. West Indies were spun out for a sub-200 total, with Sohag Gazi picking up four wickets in his debut match, including that of Chris Gayle. Will Gayle rise today, well let's see. We are 40 minutes away from the start and here is the Isam's preview for the match.

Bangladesh have put up a strong total and West Indies will need their batting to come together if they have to chase this down. The highlight of this innings was definitely Anamul Haque's maiden century - in only his second game - and he received ample support from the captain, who came up the order today, and later from Mominul Haque. I am going to take a break and will be back in 40 mins for the chase.

Orko: "@Sheikh Minhaj: looks like Anamul just redeemed himself :).. some patience next time?"

Navid:"ok, I retract my last comment. Even though what I said was true, Anamul seemed to be making up for the slow down"

Rajeeb:"Everybody should remember that this is just the 2nd match of Anamul Haque. And he did a very nice job as a new comer. He pulls the team up from 21/2 to this stage. So, please dont put him into pressure cooker. I believe this innings will boost up his confidence and he will be an asset of team by time."

And Sheikh Minhaj speaks up in his defence after inviting a lot of flak: "No doubt about Anamul's credit about his score of Century! Specially after 21/2!! He played with lots of responsibilities! All Good!! And he was playing very good and ease till he crossed 80!!! But after 80, he just did not think about the team! In the whole power play he did not even try to score a four!!! It's just the intention you have to play for the country or play for yourself..And here Anamul's shots after 47th over totally proves that, he is a very capable player of playing shots!! And don't forget he has given the 41st over as maiden!! after power play overs! from 41-46 he cored only 6 runs!! that is incosiderable when you have 6 wickets in hand! Again, I appreciate him for his whole innings except 80-100 phase!"

Arsalan: "@ Sheikh Minhaj, as everybody knows that Bangladesh is famous for collapse, around 38th over they lost two quick wickets, and 41st over of PP bowled by Narine, who can make difference in one over. I think Anamul did right job to slow down, and secure one side to get maximum of 50 overs. "

Rubaiyath: "I feel sorry for our guys. If they get out for 90 something we blame them for not scoring a 100. And then if someone tries to cope with the pressure and score a hundred and that too in the 2nd ODI one has every played, we blame him for making the innings too slow. "

End of over 50 (19 runs) Bangladesh 292/6

Mashrafe Mortaza    18* (6b 1x4 2x6)      R Rampaul    10-1-49-5
