BCB employs DRS for Zimbabwe Tests

The BCB will introduce the Decision Review System (DRS) for the first time in a home series, during the upcoming three Tests against Zimbabwe. The system will, however, not be in place for the five-match ODI series.

"We are introducing DRS for the first time in a home series," BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told ESPNcricinfo. "The BCB is doing it for entirely cricketing reasons."

ESPNcricinfo has learned that the board will bear the cost of the DRS, not Gazi TV, the Bangladeshi TV channel that acquired BCB's broadcasting rights in May. Cameras in use will include Hawk Eye, Ultra Motion and Super Zoom, all of which will cost BCB around $100,000. However, HotSpot will not be available for the series.

The introduction, however, is four years too late after then captain Shakib Al Hasan first raised concerns about the BCB not using DRS after Bangladesh suffered umpiring errors during the home series against England in 2010. BCB president AHM Mustafa Kamal had even said that DRS would be introduced in 2010, but the system was not implemented.

The subject came up in Bangladesh once again this year after the home dressing room erupted in anger over a dismissal in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Chittagong.
