Andrew Hicks represented Queensland Primary Schools in 1996-97; Queensland Under 17 in 2000-01 and 2001-02 when he was team captain; Queensland Secondary Schools in 2001-02 and 2002-03 when he was team captain; and Queensland Under 19 in 2002-03. He commenced playing on the Gold Coast with Palm Beach-Currumbin to Under 13 and with Mudgeeraba to Under 16. In 1999-00 and 2000-01 he played with Beenleigh-Logan but then returned to play for Gold Coast. His other sporting interests include golf, surfing and kayaking.
