Sri Lanka Under-19 286 for 8 (Chandimal 179*, Jayasundera 55) trail Bangladesh Under-19 316 (Haque 81, Jaleel 3-80) by 30 runs
Captain Dinesh Chandimal made an unbeaten century to lead Sri Lanka Under-19s' resistance against their Bangladesh counterparts on the second day in Fatullah.
Resuming on 28 for 0, Sri Lanka's openers stretched their partnership to 129 before Udara Jayasundera was run out by Taijul Islam. The promising start was frittered as none of the other batsmen made more than 15, leaving Chandimal to play a lone hand. He made a stubborn 179 which included 27 fours to shepherd Sri Lanka towards safety. Legspinner Noor Hossain took four wickets to spark a collapse, the visitors slipping from 166 for 2 to 193 for 8.
Madushan Ekanayake provided Chandimal the support he was looking for, making a dour unbeaten 13 in 127 minutes as the pair added 93 for the ninth wicket.
