Bangladesh Under-19 316 (Haque 81, Jaleel 3-80) and 236 for 2 dec (Majumder 129*, Asif 50*) drew with Sri Lanka Under-19 291 (Chandimal 184*, Jayasundera 55, Hossain 5-70 ) and 113 (Jayasundera 58*, Chandimal 55*)

A century from Amit Majumder set Sri Lanka Under-19s a stiff 262-run chase, but openers Dinesh Chandimal and Udara Jayasundera, despite hitting fifties, could manage only 113 in the remaining 28 overs as the first Test at Fatuallah ended in a draw.

Resuming on 286 for 8, the Sri Lanka U-19s resistance lasted just seven balls with Chandimal ending on 184. Noor Hossain trapped Madushan Ekanayake to end with a five-wicket haul.

Despite losing Mohammad Rubel for 8 very early in the second innings, Majumder's brilliant strokeplay ensured Bangladesh U-19s strengthened their narrow 25-run lead. Saikat Ali chipped in with 44 and a half-century from Asif Ahmed, comprising four boundaries, meant the advantage was firmly with Bangladesh U-19s. But the day belonged to Majumder who hit 17 fours and a six during his unbeaten 179-ball stay.

The Sri Lanka U-19s openers were only to happy to get some batting practice ahead of the second Test at the Khulna Division Stadium beginning on Monday. Chandimal continued from where he left off in the first innings, stroking seven fours in his 80-ball innings, while Jayasundera managed eight boundaries and two sixes during his 88-ball knock.
