Four Bangladesh cricketers who made their international debut last year have been given rookie contracts in place of four experienced players in the BCB's contract players' list. All fifteen players have also been given a 10% increase in salary for 2013.

Sohag Gazi, Anamul Haque, Abul Hasan and Mominul Haque have been brought under BCB's contracts in place of Nazimuddin, Imrul Kayes, Nazmul Hossain and Shuvagata Hom.

Offspinner Gazi was the stand-out performer against West Indies, taking 12 wickets in the two-Test series as well as breakthrough performances on both Test and ODI debut. Opening batsman Anamul struck 120 in only his second one-day match while pace bowler Abul became the first No. 10 in 110 years to make a Test century on debut. Mominul impressed as a middle-order batsman in the ODI series, playing a crucial littlie innings in the deciding ODI.

The players they have replaced haven't had a great 2012 with Nazimuddin, Imrul Kayes and Shuvagata all on the fringes of national selection. Nazmul Hossain seems to be the unlucky one yet again, cut off from the central contracts despite playing important roles on occasions as well as filling in whenever required. But his own injury record probably worked against him.

Among those who have been given an extended contract from 2012, vice-captain Mahmudullah has been promoted from Grade A to Grade A+ while Nasir Hossain has been elevated from Grade B to C.

Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Abdur Razzak and now Mahmudullah are in Grade A+, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam and Nasir Hossain are in Grade B while Jahurul Islam and Elias Sunny are in Grade C.

Both Nazmul and Enamul Haque Junior should also be there.

My goodness, BCB only contracted 15 players! Most test nations r usually contracting around 20 cricketers for national role. Dropping Nazmul wasn't a wise decision. BCB should've picked Naeem, Nafees for contract as they r still playing Test cricket. @ hasib9: totally agree with u. They must check records. But ur comparison of Enamul with fast bowlers seems illogical, he's better than Elias though.

Still cant believe Nazmul Hossain isn't there in the contract........Though he is injured but that doesn't mean that he should be thrown from the grade....Why Abul Hossain & Sunny is in the contract???Some are saying about Nafees and Junaid....Still faith on them thats really amazing from my part>>>>>By the way with 10% of increase whats the salary of our players i would like to know???

I don't see any reason of keeping Jahurul Islam in contract, instead I would like to see Naeem Islam.

Naeem Islam doesn't deserve a single grade but where is Enamul Haque Jr and Nazmul Hossain? They are very very promising bowlers to BD.

Once again Nazmul gets neglected, whats he done (except injury) ?! He should play Sri Lanka tour knowing that he loves playing against them! Other than that contracts look good except Nasir should get an A grade contract atleast... Test: I want saqlain sajib or Enamul, Marshal Ayub to play in it and in ODI ziaur rahman.

AzAb12754, Shahriar has a test hundred against Australia, how many other Bangladeshis can say that? Think the answer's zero! Also got 90 odd against Pakistan last winter, would be a good bet for number 3. Junaid isn't as talented but i remember his hundred against England a couple of years ago. He deserves another go. My first choice test XI would be Tamim, Anamul, Shahriar/Naimul, Shakib, Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, Nasir, Elias/Enamul, Sohag, Shafiul, Nazmul. For ODIs bring in Shahriar for Naimul at 3, Razzak for Elias or Enamul, and Mashrafe for Shafiul.

Shafiul is of no use. Neither he has pace nor the accuracy of both line and length. Rubel has pace but doesnt get the line and length right that a first bowler needs. Hardly bowl a yorker.

@JamesBond...BCB just don't know much about Cricket shouldn't be surprised despite Nazmul success in the Asia Cup.

Posted by   on (January 14, 2013, 16:17 GMT)

Yeah but it doesn't mean these contracted players are guaranteed to officiate in the matches still Nazmul and all them can get into the team but I do agree instead of players like Jahurul, Nazmul and Enamul deserve contracts. Sunny is only effective when the wicket is doing something for spinners but on other pitches i.e. with grass on top, he gets smacked out of the ground.

Did bcb forget nazmul's performance in asia cup ?

Posted by hasib9 on (January 14, 2013, 15:53 GMT)

I feel bad for Nazmul Hussain and Enamul Haque Jr. Nazmul rarely ever failed compared to our overrated Rubel Hussain. "Rubel has the pace" has been an excuse for a long time. The fact is he consistently fails, like Ashraful did with the bat. Enamul is the best test bowler in the nation. Has been for over 3 years now.

bcb should keep nazmul in the contract, although he has some injury problems .that's because whenever he has been given a chance, he has deliverd.

Posted by AzAb12754 on (January 14, 2013, 15:41 GMT)

Edd! got to be kidding me about Shariar Nafees and Junaid, both of them had so many chances and are just not cut out for the team. Shahriar should only play against Zimbabwe in the coming series later but that's about it. I'm neither a fan of Naeem Islam even though he has improved a bit. His wicket is basically a gift for the bowlers and should only play teams like India and Zimbabwe.

So funny so far in comments that Nazmul Hossain is mentioned everytime even I agree, he is an improved bowler has good control and accuracy even can bowl the butterfly delivery with success. May not have the pace like Abul has but Abul just bowls all over the place unlike Nazmul.

Posted by SarfBD on (January 14, 2013, 15:27 GMT)

Really! If Rubel and Shafiul can grab a grade B contract, Nazmul should also be there. This guy rarely failed and yet never got a good run. Congrats to the newcomers...

Posted by BOND_OO7 on (January 14, 2013, 15:23 GMT)

Nazmul deserves a place. Why jahurul here?

Posted by   on (January 14, 2013, 15:07 GMT)

What has Nazmul Hossain done wrong apart from get injured?! He looked like a very promising swing bowler in the tests against Pakistan a year or so ago. Shahriar Nafees and Junaid Siddique should at least have Grade C contracts too. And where is Naimul Islam on this list after his test hundred against West Indies recently?!

Posted by ExtremeSpeed on (January 14, 2013, 15:05 GMT)

Can't believe Jahurul Islam is still there, he hasn't done anything wonders in the national team besides that quick 50 against India. Can't believe Nazmul Hossain is not even included on there but Abul Hasan is.
