Hooper denies interest in Bangladesh coaching job

Carl Hooper has denied any interest in coaching Bangladesh. Earlier this week the BCB had spoken of the former West Indies captain as one of the early candidates.

"I was asked if I was interested, said I wasn't and that was the last I heard of it," Hooper told The Advertiser. "I was hoping Bangladesh would retract what they have apparently said that I was 'interested in the job'. I have not applied and I am not interested. I am happy at Woodville."

On Monday, BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus had said Hooper was one of those interested in taking up the offer after the board had advertised for the position that had been vacated by Richard Pybus in October last year. ESPNcricinfo understands that Hooper's agent had contacted the BCB.

However, Hooper said he would rather be interested in other options, especially because he would always put his family first in these matters. "I know there are a few things that might come up in South Australia or the Caribbean. My kids are settled here so I want to stay here if I can.

"There's a lot of stuff in the air with SACA [South Australia Cricket Association] and the clubs. I always put my family first. That is why the Bangladesh thing is so far-fetched."

@Alive2cu: Yes buddy, Pak helped BD by putting a #12 E.Pak lad in the bench for long 25 years; well, you may be too young to know that, but go, look into history. BD don't want to be a failed nation, and they are doing fine now, including cricket...

Pak fans saying that Bangladesh is a minnow. Could you tell me what is actually called minnow? Minnow means the just-born child fish. Every big fish has to go through this state after its birth.Just like that Big fishes like Australia, india, pakistan, england etc. were minnows at time.then they turned into big fishes day by day.well,i wanna tell you something.were you a strong muscle guy when you were born?of course not. so think human-like.Proud to be bangladeshi

some people saying that Bangladesh has no influence in world cricket. to those blind-acted people, bangladesh is the only country to hold world cup opening ceremony within eleven years after getting the test status.its probably the best WC cricket ceremony ever. WC opening ceremony 2011 got the second place in rating of success after Beijing Olympic ,talking over 2010 fifa WC and Euro football 2008 opening Bangladesh will host WC t20 2014. Bangladesh has done enough in its early days to prove wrong people like you. if we have no influence in world cricket , then ICC would not have trusted us with giving WC cricket to host

@Bang_La: When pakistan lost to Bangladesh in 1999, the talks were all around the world that they lost the match intentionally so that bangladesh can get test status... We didn't give 7 votes but PCB every time supported Bangladesh cricket.. wasim akram after the match said " its no shame in losing to our brothers".. The verdicts from Bangladesh camp were that we took revenge of 1971... Just see the mentality on ur side and on our part.. We paki fans still saying that the wrong thing was to commit and then to refuse when everything was set.. We suffered same thing as BCB today is suffering from.. Still believe that pakistan should have sent their players because loss of BCB will not benefit PCB anyway.. Fighting here isn't going to help anyway.. Both the boards again should sit together and find a solution to it which is benficial for the countries.. Long Live Pakistan and very best of luck for BPL.. We pakistani want bengali tigers to roar surely in the world of cricket.

What a shame that people are being political here. I am from Pakistan and really don't care about BCB internal matters.they might have been hurt with hooper's comments but really its between him and a cricket lover I want good cricket no matter where it comes from.but of course I support my team first. Here I see some Indian guys writing against Pakistan.why just because we won in India again.come on guys lets support cricket first.and don't get involved in politics.and for Bangladeshi cricket fans I hope u get a coach soon.

Bangladesh has not beaten Pakistan in any format of the game in the last 10 years! Furthermore, if you look at records for the last 2 years Pakistan has played 14 Tests (8 Wins, 2 Losses, and 4 Ties/No Results), 52 ODIs (32 Wins, 18 Losses, and 2 Ties/No Results), and 21 T20s (12 W, 8 Losses, and 1 Tie/No Result). Pakistan has a WINNING record in all formats! While Bangladesh has played 7 Tests (0 Wins, 6 Losses, and 1 Tie/No Result), 29 ODIs (11 Wins, 18 Losses), and 11 T20s (5 Wins, 6 Losses). Bangladesh has a LOSING record in all formats! Bangladesh is not even in the same league as Pakistan!

FAMILY first then everything. Btw, BCB must show some professionalism. Only the contact made by Hooper's agent doesn't mean Hooper himself is interested. BCB shud've confirmed it first then revealed.
