BCB to push Pakistan home series to April

The BCB is likely to push Pakistan's 2015 tour of Bangladesh to the second week of April, instead of January. Bangladesh, in the meantime, are set to train in Australia for two extra weeks before the World Cup in a bid to acclimatize to conditions where they last played in January 2010.

Though the BCB's cricket operations committee headed a meeting on the scheduling of international and domestic cricket for the next 12 months on Tuesday, an official confirmation will only come after approval in the board meeting.

Bangladesh are currently expecting a three-match ODI series against India in mid-June, after which their next international assignments include a tour of West Indies in August-September, a possible tri-series in October involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, and up to three Tests against Zimbabwe in November-December.

The Tests will be followed by the World Cup in February-March and home series against Pakistan, India and South Africa till July.

"[The training camp in Australia] is almost confirmed," Akram Khan, the chairman of BCB's cricket operations committee, said. "We still haven't decided the dates but we are trying to do a camp as the condition there is different from Bangladesh. If the cricketers can play a few one-day matches there during this camp, it can only benefit them.

"The Pakistan tour will be held in April next year while India will come in June, and South Africa in July."

To keep the second string players busy, the BCB is trying to host an A team in July or August this year. This will be in addition to Bangladesh A's tour of West Indies next month, and a home series against Zimbabwe in June.

@Sid Abbas, if teams don't play the lower-ranked/caliber teams, then how will there be ANY match?

even if bd go now to aus practice for one year they will still not win the WC

  • Dummy4 on April 23, 2014, 10:03 GMT

I think it is good for both Pak & BD. Playing a series just days before WC in totally opposite conditions will not help at all. because players will be used to slow & spinning wickets. BD should do their practice in AUS ahead of WC

Come on make the visit to AUS at least 30 days before the scheduled World Cup matches and try to play as much as possible practice matches over there, few ODIs would be excellent. And before heading towards AUS, a 3 or 5 match ODI series in IRE would be a handy one.If the whole process cost us a few extra money then BCB must not be bothered about the money as performance in World Cup 2015 would define our future in CRICKET.And its really good to see that 3 match TEST series against ZIM.BCB must confirm that BAN play TEST vs. ZIM either in BAN or ZIM every year. This way both countries would be benefited.

Plz PCB, why we have to play with a team which lost to Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

I'm a pakistani fan but this is an excellent decision. Pakistan also needs practice in australian conditions. Bangladesh cricket board is doing the right thing by hosting A teams and training their team in australia. Meanwhile pcb seriously needs to schedule a few matches in the english conditions and organize A tours.

should not play lower caliber countries like bd,they dont measure up

I agree with Warm_Coffee. Play with more and more countries don't bother whether Associate or full member countries and be on the Cricket ground not on the BCB Board room.

Good decision to play a 3 match test series vs Zim & to have 3 series for A team in 3 consecutive months. But BCB's decision to host PK after WC 15 isn't wise. They should split the tour into 2 parts. ODI series should b played in BD ahead of their training camp in Aus & Test series can b played in April after WC.
