The BCB has shifted the Bangladesh Cricket League matches out of Fatullah due to the ongoing violence in the area since Thursday. The last round matches of the first-class competition will now be held at the BKSP grounds No 3 and 4, North of Dhaka, from May 3.
A recent spate of kidnappings and killings in the Narayanganj district, to the South of Dhaka, had prompted violence by locals on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, which is a few kilometers from the Fatullah Cricket Stadium where the two matches were supposed to held from May 2.
"We have changed the venue due to the ongoing situation there," BCB's tournament committee secretary Ziaur Rahman said. "We also have to speak to the teams about the date of the final. It will be either on May 8 or 9, but the venue will remain the same."
The franchise-based tournament was held in January before the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Test series, and was postponed for the duration of the international tournaments, until the end of April when it was supposed to restart. But the players had requested for a delay from April 28 to May 2, due to the heat wave in the country.
