BCB elects two vice-presidents

The BCB directors elected Mahbub Anam and AJM Nasiruddin as vice-presidents on Wednesday

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors elected Mahbub Anam and AJM Nasiruddin as vice-presidents on Wednesday. They got 21 and 17 votes respectively, while another board director Najib Ahmed got eight votes.
Mahbub is a former vice-president and has been in the BCB for more than two decades, while it is the first time for Nasiruddin, who is a well known sports organiser in Chittagong.
Six directors - Akram Khan, Tanjil Chowdhury, Sheikh Sohel, Ahmed Iqbal Hasan, Enayet Hossain Siraj and Gazi Golam Mortuza - were not present during the election but four of them voted online.
Late last year five candidates emerged to contest the two vice-president posts for an election that was supposed to take place on December 4. Mahbub, former vice-president Ahmed Sajjadul Alam, Siraj, Afzalur Rahman Sinha and Nasiruddin all showed their interests. The BCB, however, failed to reach a consensus over the two posts and consequently opted to hold an election.
