The BCB has said that a shoulder injury Mustafizur Rahman picked up during Bangladesh's second T20I against Zimbabwe in Khulna is preventing the seamer from playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, which begins on February 4 in the UAE.

Mustafizur was picked in the PSL draft and would have been paid $50,000, but the BCB suggested they were not keen on granting him a no-objection certificate, soon after which Mustafizur was injured.

BCB's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said they hoped Mustafizur would be fit by the time the Asia Cup begins on February 24 and that Bangladesh players would be picked in the IPL auction on February 6.

"Mustafizur is still about two weeks away from getting fit so we are hopeful that he can be ready for the Asia Cup T20s," Yunus said. "We want him to be fit for the two major T20 tournaments coming up which includes the World T20. It is not the BCB's policy not to allow a player to go to a domestic T20 competition.

"Tamim [Iqbal], Shakib [Al Hasan] and Mushfiqur [Rahim] are all supposed to be flying off to the UAE tonight [Tuesday night] to play in the PSL. Five Bangladesh players are in the IPL auction. If they get picked and are fit at the time, they will play in the IPL. BCB have no issues with such things."

Mustafizur's inability to go to the PSL would be discussed in the next BCB meeting, when they will decide whether he will be compensated for his loss of earnings. "We must look to compensate him," Yunus said. "We are considering this, so that he doesn't have a major monetary loss."

Mustafizur, would have lost in the bowling crowd of PSL. good that he missed. But reasonably big money missed out for the young lad. we will see him in asia cup

Mustafizur needed this experience and exposure more than the PSL. These PSL, CSL ... leagues are full of stars and so one or two missing is never a problem. But Mustafizur is new and playing with the bigger stars only makes a better player out of you. Too bad he missed out on that opportunity. Better luck next time.

No big deal. Wish him the best in his career. Overexposure aspect was entirely stupid. Medium Fast Bowlers as secret weapons is unheard of.

Please do not discuss what fast bowling is with the land of Imran Khan, Shohaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram.

People outside BD don't fully acknowledge his talent? Why? Because he just hasn't yet performed outside bd! I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that he would show similar performance on the pitches which don't support spin! But l think he would do well in asia

Laughing at the amount of crybaby fans in this comment section! Clearly you're sad and upset that this exciting young bowler won't be part of your league. So what you do? You resort to belittle him. Well if Mustafizur is so "average bowler" why are you crying over him not playing there? It shouldn't even be a news then. He's injured, so he won't be playing. Simple. Stop being so bitter and confused.

O god plz bangladesh send him in PSL as we want to see genuine fast bowler........fastest bowler ever on earth is mustafiz......I think his average speed must be around 170 Kph

  • ashqarmahi on February 4, 2016, 8:40 GMT

He is young and injured...So BCB are not taking any risk....if he can continue his form and caliber then he will be picked again is PSL...hope to see him in multi cultured tournament in future..

No loss for PSL though...... but still he is a decent bowler. It would have been interesting to watch him outside BD!
