Rubel Hossain, who was a key member of Bangadesh's pace attack during the 2015 World Cup, has been left out of the BCB's list of contracted players for 2016. Rubel has been troubled by injuries in recent months, and has not played for Bangladesh in any format since July 2015.

Apart from Rubel, the BCB also omitted opening batsman Anamul Haque and fast bowler Shafiul Islam from its list of contracted players.

In place of these three, the BCB awarded contracts to Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman and Mustafizur Rahman. All three have made big strides in international cricket over the past year, with Sarkar and Sabbir establishing themselves as opener and finisher in Bangladesh's limited-overs batting line-ups and Mustafizur enjoying a dream debut season that culminated in his selection in the ICC ODI team of the year.

List of contracted players for 2016: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Taijul Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza, Al-Amin Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman.

I'm not sure how cricket contracts work, but it's crazy if the contracts are yearly bases with every National teams. Sports contracts are always a multi-year deal. Specially because of situations like Rubel's. Athletes get hurt. They could be playing one day, and very next moment they could be out for a whole year, or worse, done forever! This sort of uncertain contracts will not work in any league sports.

No good; BCB should have a Special Category to keep key players in their low time in the loop. Please reconsider Rubel, he brought fame for BD not too long ago...

In one more year Mushrafe also will be out. There are some u19 good pace bowlers are coming up soon.

I don't see Taskin's name in the list but he is playing for BD in the Asian Cup. I think Rubel is struggling with fitness does not mean he will not be included in the BD team in future if he deem to be fit, but omitting from BCB Contract looks harsh to me as he was the key bowler in the World Cup. BCB should take some responsibility keeping him in the contract list during his bad patch.

This is not good. This is very demotivating to Rubel. I mean come on, why are you omitting the fastest bowler in Bangladesh now?we NEED THAT 4 MAN PACE ATTACK! but... i'm willing to be patient and see where things go from here. I think Rubel at least should have been given a 2nd tier contract or something.

Just think about last worldcup against England , that was the best spell I've ever seen from a Bangladeshi fast bowler, simply a class

Actually BD is saturated with hood players now. I dont see any name should be ommited from the above list. I think to accomodate those, Tubel got ommision.

That is unacceptable ... Rubel should have been included in the contract. Someone can be injured but that doesnt mean we should kick them out from contract.

With a bowling average of 75 in tests, I am amazed he ended up playing 23 tests ... no wonder BD is so wonderful in tests ...

Rubel should have been included, did not like BCB's attitude on the best limited fast bowler of Bangladesh !!!
