England in Bangladesh ODI Series - 2nd ODI

Bangladesh v England

England won by 2 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)

1.55 As the players make their way on to the field Andrew Miller has yet more news. Ryan Sidebottom's thigh injury will rule him out of the rest of the one-day series. Or, as the ECB put it, "Ryan sustained an injury to his right thigh during Sunday's game, which has led him to be ruled out of the one-day series. He will be reassessed over the coming days to determine his availability for the forthcoming Tests."

1.40 About 20 minutes until play begins, I'm thoroughly looking forward to seeing Tamim let loose on England's attack again. There is a real verve and authority to him when he gets going.

A quick reminder to the hoards of US users, you can watch every ball of this series over on ESPN360.com, which is just lovely.

While we wait for the action, I suggest having a glance of Gideon Haigh's thoughts on whether the franchise system will overtake international cricket as the dominant form of our beloved game.

But far more excitingly, I'm told, is Andrew Miller's Twitter feed. So check that out.

1.30 Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the 2nd ODI of the Bangladesh v England series. I'm Sahil Dutta and I'll be joined by Liam Brickhill and Andrew McGlashan to bring you all the action today.

Meanwhile the ever-eager Andrew Miller, who's in Dhaka has some snippets of team news. James Tredwell was handed his cap, suggesting the offspinner will debut today for England. Junaid Siddique, who made an inglorious duck in the opening match, has been dropped for Bangladesh, while paceman Mashrafe Mortaza has, according to a BCB statement, withdrawn from the rest of the one-day series to be by the side of his ailing mother. Rubel Hossain and Suhrawadi Shuvo come into the side.

News from the middle is that England have won the toss and will field

Tredwell has come in for Ryan Sidebottom, who Alastair Cook says has a stiff thigh. I suspect he would have been dropped either way.

All of which means the teams look like this: Bangladesh 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Imrul Kayes, 3 Aftab Ahmed, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5 Shakib al Hasan (capt), 6 Mahmudullah, 7 Naeem Islam, 8 Suhrawadi Shuvo, 9 Abdur Razzak, 10 Shafiul Islam, 11 Rubel Hossain

England 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Craig Kieswetter, 3 Kevin Pietersen, 4 Paul Collingwood, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Matt Prior (wk), 7 Luke Wright, 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Tim Bresnan, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 James Tredwell

0.5

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, no run, Tamim is all wrists and elegance, and he's only defending

0.6

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, no run, just back of a length on this occasion, defended solidly enough to complete the over

End of over 1 (6 runs) Bangladesh 6/0 (RR: 6.00)

Stuart Broad will share the new ball, something of a promotion for him, having been first change in the last game.

1.1

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, two slips in place, waiting for the outside edge, which Broad won't find from this line, drifting too far down the leg side for another wide

1.1

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, finds a better line and length this time, no great venom though, and nicely defended

1.2

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, this is a better ball, slightly fuller and Imrul looks a little uncomfortable in his defence

1.3

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, played neatly to point off the back foot, Broad dragging his length back a fraction

1.4

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, this first flashing blade of the morning, Imrul stretching forward a driving well, but straight to mid off

1.5

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, hint of extra bounce from a decent length, good line too, all of which amounts to a good delivery that Imrul jumps to defend and keep out

1.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, shorter ball, let's all hope Broad doesn't get bogged down in bowling short, but this gets up well and Imrul turns it off his hip, round the corner for one to complete a good opening over from Broad

End of over 2 (2 runs) Bangladesh 8/0 (RR: 4.00)
Imrul Kayes    1* (6b)      SCJ Broad    1-0-2-0

2.2

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, shortish again and it's nicely timed, round the corner down towards fine leg for a couple

2.3

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, better length this time, pitched up without being floated up, Imrul defends into the leg side

2.4

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, Bresnan is lucky to get away with this, short and with a hint of width, Imrul timed his cut nicely, but straight to point

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, maintaining a very straight line of attack, England reluctant to give any width, defended once more

3.3

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, good ball this, finding some extra bounce from a decent length, Imrul hops to defend

3.4

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, this is good from England, much tighter than in the 1st ODI, bang on a length and line and can only be defended

3.5

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, another slower ball, pitched up, Imrul tries to drive it down the ground but can't quite time it. Pressure building on him here

3.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, attacking the body once more, Imrul tries to turn it into the leg side but misses, completes a very good over for England

End of over 4 (1 run) Bangladesh 11/0 (RR: 2.75)

4.4

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, shortish and defended into the leg side

5.1

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, 2 runs, slightly fuller slower ball from Broad, glanced down to fine leg for a couple

5.2

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, Banged in, pulled, and Bresnan makes an absolute hash of what should have been a simple stop at fine leg. He went at the ball one-handed and it just spun past him

5.3

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, back of a length, another little cutter from Broad, and it's turned away to square leg

5.4

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, oh, good pace from Broad, pulled down short again and 138kph, that whizzes past Kayes's grill

5.5

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, fuller ball just outside off stump, looked like Broad was trying to find some swing there, but none on offer. Ball is driven straight to mid off

5.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, classy shot from Kayes, Broad drifts on to his pads and he finds the gap beautifully with a firm push off his hips. Top shot, and good to find the gap as he's picked out fielders repeatedly today

End of over 6 (11 runs) Bangladesh 25/0 (RR: 4.16)
Imrul Kayes    7* (23b 1x4)      SCJ Broad    3-0-14-0

6.4

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, same line, but a bit more venom in this one from Bresnan, it comes off Kayes's glove, glances the thigh pad and almost rolls back onto the stumos

6.5

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, great shot! He's played the cut a few times today already, but finds the gap to perfection this time. Short, wide and punished

6.6

7.2

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, off stump line, back of a length, and played watchfully out to cover point

7.5

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, more back-of-a-length stuff and clipped straight to Collingwood at backward point

9.1

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, crashed away! Broad gives Tamim far too much room outside off stump and that's smashed away with disdain

9.2

Broad to Tamim Iqbal, OUT, and Tamim goes next ball! He's just played such a good shot, but throws it away trying to heave a slower cutter over the leg side. A catching fielder has just been placed there at midwicket and he hardly had to move. Just the wicket England wanted, and a huge setback for Bangladesh

That was a really tame end for Shakib. He had come out and played some shots, adding runs at a run a ball with Rahim. Bangladesh's lower order needs to rally here, or they could be in danger of not making full use of their overs once again.
