The umpires are taking a look at the light meter, a pause in play/. Bowden has a word with Tendulkar and Ishant, and the batsmen have accepted the offer. They are walking off, followed by the Bangladeshi fielders, who would have loved to continue. We are in for a delay. Well, I think stumps have been called for the day, just 23 minutes more to go before the cut-off and with no improvement in conditions, the resumption will only happen tomorrow. Bangladesh's day by a mile. Join us on Day 2. Adios.

End of over 63 (maiden) India 213/8
I Sharma    1* (15b)      Shakib Al Hasan    26-9-52-4
SR Tendulkar    76* (140b 6x4 1x6)      Shahadat Hossain    14-1-51-4

10.55 The umpires are walking out. The stumps are in place. A gentle cheer around the ground. Not many people in. They seem to be coming in slowly. Let's see whether we get a full house today. It's pretty chilly. The Bangladeshi fielders walk out with the batsmen. Shahadat will open the attack today with Tendulkar to face.

10.35 Word coming in is that we will have an 11.00 am start.

10.20 The umpires are still down there. No signs of play. Ishant Sharma is marking his run-up and just running in as if he were bowling. Zaheer Khan too is marking his run-up. Meanwhile, Eric Simons is in the middle. He is keeping with his baseball gloves to Amit mishra and Sreesanth (short run-up, just concentrating on getting his action right).

9.53. The covers are off and the next inspection is at 10.15 am.

9.50 Sriram keeps updating: "Sehwag spoke with the two umpires and then sprinted away to the far end. Ah. Now he has joined the team and all of them get into a huddle. It's pretty cold here you see...!."

9.40 The umpires are standing near the middle. At least one of them. Billy is seen. The covers are back on the pitch. The drying of the outfield continues.

9.30 Sriram Veera has stirred: "Foggy skies. Ground staff still trying to clear up the dew by pulling a long sack cloth along the ground in true subcontinent fashion. At the far end, Bangladeshi players warming up by kicking around a foot ball. Not quite a game but just some gentle kicking. The coaching staff, meanwhile, are hanging around near the pitch and looking at the ground staff. Indians are just walking out."

8.55 The pitch is covered. Looks very gloomy. The umpire are expected out for an inspection in about 15 minutes, but that it not confirmed. Stay tuned.

Shams sends in the first email of the day: "I hope Bangladesh comes up with another strong display today both with ball and bat. They got to have some luck as well. Should they hold on to all catches and LBW decision in their way, they could be in better position today. Nevertheless, they have to perform to take this match to wire."

KunalMal from Singapore, meanwhile, has a lot of time on his hands: "It's time ICC toyed with the idea of using night/fog - vision glasses under bleak playing conditions. We are living in post-avatar world, aren't we ?"

Bani has another perspective: "If sachin scores a century here people like Ian chapple will say he scored it with minnow Bangladesh. They will never look at under what circumstances he scored it. Its pity that even after 15-20 years Indian test team is so heavily dependent on sachin and dravid."

8.45 Hello and welcome back. Doesn't look too promising in Chittagong. Through the murk I can make out Athar Ali Khan and L Siva standing in black suits talking with microphones in their hand.

India are all out for 243, out of which Tendulkar made 105. Gem of an innings. Well done Bangladesh. Five to Shahadat and Shakib, who has taken his sixth five-wicket haul in 15 Tests. Bangladesh have set themselves up well here, and now they need to do what Shakib said at the toss - bat a full day. Tendulkar's innings has given India's total some respectability and the bowlers need to do a Bangladesh and dismiss the opposition cheaply. Fascinating contest has been set up. Yay for Tests.

Don't go far because the home team will be out to bat soon.

Ashwath from India: "I think this probably would be one of the few times that "doing a Bangladesh" would be a positive thing. Go Bangladesh! Beating India would definitely be the greatest achievement in their history but there is a lot of cricket still to be played."

Nathan, also from India: "Well done Bangladesh. Clinical performance by Bangladesh, bowling to their strength and attacked tail enders. Guys Tendulkar lone fighter for India. Stop saying he has not won matches for India."
