Big Bash League

Melbourne Stars v Hobart Hurricanes

Melbourne Stars won by 4 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)

Hello and welcome to the MCG for tonight's clash between the Melbourne Stars and the Hobart Hurricanes. Shane Warne has won another toss and the Stars will bowl first on what is hopefully a more conducive wicket for batting than what we saw last night in Sydney in the clash between the Thunder and the Renegades. The Stars have named an unchanged side from their previous outing, a comprehensive 24 runs (D/L) bash and dash in the rain in Perth against the Scorchers just three days ago. While, the exciting news for the Hurricanes is the inclusion of Ricky Ponting at the top of the order which means that Jonathan Wells is the unlucky man to miss out - particularly after his explosive 38 from 33 balls during their 8 wicket win over the Heat in Brisbane six days ago. Both teams have some serious batting talent, with a number of internationals in either line up. It shapes as a quality contest.

Despite an indifferent fielding performance from the Stars, they will be fairly happy to restrict the Hurricanes to just 134. Clint McKay was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Malinga and Faulker was also very effective with a couple each We can't forget to mention Warnie, here, who bowled beautifully and could easily have nabbed a two-fer himself. Tim Paine anchored the innings nicely for the visitors and they could well have made 150 had he hung around for another couple of overs. I look forward to bringing you all the action from the Stars' innings in around 15 minutes. Match State: Innings Break
