19.4 to HM Nicholls, big lbw appeal, given, and Nicholls has reviewed this. This is slightly short of a length, pitched middle and off, seams back in, beats Nicholls' drive, hits him on the back leg. He plays the drive, but his weight is not well forward. I am sure he has reviewed this on the height, but the ball is more than just clipping the bails. Another top call from Kettleborough. 32/3
61.2 to N Wagner, classic seamer's dismissal. Looks like this is swinging back in, pitches off, and then seams away. Wagner follows the direction of the ball, and edges it. There is still life in this pitch. New Zealand will look forward to bowling on it. 333/9
1528125.406113011
5.6 to MJ Guptill, that's an anti-climactic wicket. You are watching for the outside edge on a pitch with such seam movement, but he has gone to a ball short of a length. It has seamed back in, but it is the extra bounce that has done Guptill in. Gloved on to the thigh pad, and this time Burns dive forward to collect the loopy catch. They check the no-ball, it is close, but it is a legal delivery. 21/1
45.1 to BB McCullum, finally it ends. With a lovely catch off Pattinson's bowling. That's how we thought it happened some 100 runs ago, but that turned out to be a no-ball. Since then McCullum has made Australia pay through some sensational hitting. This time he moves inside the line of a length ball, and plays a pick-up shot. Lyon at long leg picks it early, and charges in, and dives forward to take a superb catch. A third very good legal catch today. 253/5
14.446624.50649100
14.4 to TWM Latham, that's a ripper from Smith at second slip diving in front of first. Actually this is going to the left of first slip. I wonder how Latham has managed to edge this one. This is really full. A proper long half-volley so not much scope for seam movement. He sees a drive there, through the vacant cover region, but he has edged it. And Smith dives to his right and takes this one-handed. So much concentration, so much hard work, and he has scored just four. Hmm. He moves forward late, and the bat comes down late, which results in the edge. Interesting to see that Voges, the man at first slip, is not going to his left for this catch. 23/2
65.4 to BJ Watling, finally New Zealand's innings comes to an end. Watling is caught at deep point. You won't see that many times, but New Zealand have been looking to bat aggressively because while they want runs, they also want Australia to bat while the ball is still seaming around. 370/10
816217.75285401
26.5 to KS Williamson, another ripper from Smith? They are checking it with the third umpire because Warner, the silly slip, is in the umpire's way. A really full delivery, Williamson drives, and incredibly it still manages to swing away enough to take the edge. So far Williamson has been letting the ball hit the bat, but this time he pushes at it. It goes low between second and third slip. And mind, that third slip is so close he is wearing a helmet. Warner, the man under the helmet dives for the ball, but it beats him. Smith dives to his right, and plucks is one-handed inches off the ground. So two sensational catches for Smith this morning. 74/4
1006136.10414400
48.5 to CJ Anderson, Anderson has been hitting sweetly back over Anderson's head, but this time he perishes trying to do just that. Lyon has smartly dragged this wider. Anderson is out of his crease so he has to go ahead with the shot. He fails to drag it, and lobs i straight up for cover to take the catch. An excellent hand from Anderson. On another day a great lead effort. Today a support act. 266/6
50.2 to TG Southee, and this thrill-a-minute Test continues to thrill. Australia fighting their way back. Southee looks to give Lyon the charge, but hardly gets any power or elevation. An easy catch at mid-off results. Just not to the pitch of the ball as Lyon slows it down seeing Southee advance. 273/7
54.3 to MJ Henry, nearly dropped by Khawaja. The entertainment continues, though. Henry gives him the charge, Lyon continues to keep flighting the ball, Henry goes for the big hit, mis-hits it towards long-on, where Khawaja nearly lets the ball slip out. He collects it on the second grab. 297/8

7.4 to DA Warner, only the second ball he has bowled to Warner, and Boult gets one for NZ. Short of a length, angling in, don't think this has moved away, and it seems Warner has played down the wrong line. Takes the shoulder of the outside edge for a sharp catch for Guptill at second slip. 25/1
23.1 to UT Khawaja, Boult does it again. A bit of a nothing shot from Khawaja, though. Boult has bowled five of the seven balls this morning about two stumps outside off. Khawaja just pushes at this without really moving forward. Which means the slight holding of the line is enough to take the edge through to McCullum at first slip. Superb low grab by the bootlaces. 67/2
32810103.1515115000
2226613.00958000
148.3 to JL Pattinson, now the wickets are a-fallin'. Throws in a wide length ball. Pattinson plays a loose drive. Perhaps it stops at him a touch. Offers a simple catch to backward point. 484/8
32.1610663.2914414000
103.2 to JA Burns, a better bouncer, and New Zealand finally get a wicket. First one came in 13 minutes into the day. This has come about 13 minutes before stumps. Badge high, well hooked actually as he rolled his wrists and brought this down, but it takes time to come down from this height. And before it comes down, Guptill at square leg takes the catch. 356/3
105.1 to SPD Smith, for those who were working on their microwaves, Smith has provided an action replay of the Burns dismissal. New Zealand salvage their day a little bit. Again a bouncer over the shoulder, and again Smith looks to pull it down, and he finds Guptill again at square leg. Sweet connection, playing it down, but straight to the man. It is difficult to control them and place them from that height. That's why they say hooking is fraught with risk. 357/4
141.2 to AC Voges, Wagner has three similar wickets. That averages falls before hundred. He bowls short again, this time Voges pulls from around shoulder high, manages a good connection, but there are two square legs in place. Latham catches this overhead with a jump. 464/6
147.1 to MR Marsh, and the pull gets him another wicket. He is bowled brilliantly to a brilliantly set field. Wagner goes short from round the wicket, Marsh is happy to pull down on it, but he has pulled it down and low to midwicket for a fourth wicket on the pull. 483/7
151.3 to PM Nevill, five-for with short balls. This time Nevill tries to ramp one over the slips, gets too close to it, and gloves it and Watling takes his first catch of the match. 496/9
153.1 to JR Hazlewood, and this is the perfect ball. Has handcuffed Hazlewood with one in the ribs. He looks for the ramp, but there is no room. Easy catch for McCullum at slip. 505/10
701712.42280000
130.6 to NM Lyon, so the combine of Williamson and McCullum strikes. Williamson draws the front-foot defensive with a ball not full enough to be a half-volley. The ball doesn't turn, takes the edge, and McCullum takes a ripper diving to his right at slip. This is low, dying on him, but he has managed to get under it. 438/5

34.5 to BB McCullum, oh it's over, it's all over. Let's give him a standing ovation. McCullum dances down the wicket after that six, and slogs this one into the leg side. Warner flies to his right at midwicket, and takes a sensational catch that would do McCullum proud. 105/4
2687742.9612411000
3.6 to MJ Guptill, this is beautiful Test-match bowling. The first time Pattinson has bowled to Guptill this innings. The seam is up right, the ball is headed for top of off, Guptill has to play at it, and the ball holds its line just enough to hit the outside edge. If it moves less, it hits the middle of the bat. If it seams more, it misses the edge. This is just perfect. That's why they ask you to bowl there again and again. One of them will take the edge sooner or later. Superb bowling. 8/1
25.2 to TWM Latham, some call this a lucky break, some say this is the batsman's mistake. This is the strangle down the leg side. This is hip high, just outside the leg, Latham sees some release after having been tied down. He plays the pull with his body inside the line. All he manages is to glove it through to Nevill. So after taking just the one catch in the first innings, Nevill has taken two in two. 66/2
27.5 to HM Nicholls, poor shot. He has been hustled into playing it. Pattinson has set him up with shorter balls, and then slipped in a wide full ball. Nicholls' weight is caught back, he drives away from the body, and Smith takes another sharp catch at second slip. 72/3
107.2 to BJ Watling, soft soft dismissal against the run of play. Pattinson bowls short of a length, thigh high, Watling turns his bat on it, but fails to keep it down and offers square leg a low catch. Anti-climactic. 328/8
17.155953.438311000
78.3 to CJ Anderson, oh what a time to get the wicket. Nine balls before the new cherry comes out. How cruel on New Zealand. What a timely strike for Australia. Soft dismissal. Anderson has been driving at wide balls every now and then, but this time he does so fatally. This is a gentle length ball angling across him, he goes after it, and inside-edges it onto the stumps. They check for the no-ball but Bird is fine. 207/5
80.4 to KS Williamson, no doubt about this one. Bird has rattled the New Zealand cage. Seam movement with the new ball brings to an end an exceptional innings. Quite full, draws the drive from Williamson, but it seams back in, hits the inside edge, and goes into the stumps. 210/6
80.6 to TG Southee, Bird stings again. Seam movement again. Too good for Southee. On a length, slightly shorter perhaps, just outside off. Many a batsman will play at it. Then it seams away to take the outside edge. 210/7
109.2 to MJ Henry, and Australia a strike closer to batting. Bird hits the stumps again. For the third time today. Henry plays as he has been playing: backing away to go leg side of the ball and pushing/defending/driving. This is a bit of a push, but he seems to be beaten by the swing back in, and the middle stump is hit on its top. Excellent rearguard from Henry. Now he needs to get those bowling boots on. 335/9
111.1 to TA Boult, Bird gets his Michelle. Boult backs away this time and swings hard, gets a top edge that settles with Pattinson at mid-off. This is Bird's personal best and first five-for in Tests. 335/10

47.4 to JA Burns, poor Joe Burns. He has battled and battled to stay not out when the winning runs are scored, but now that they are trying to hit out to finish it before lunch he has gone out slogging. After clearing mid-off earlier, he looks to go over mid-on, misses, and is bowled. Walks off to a big applause. 179/3
723014.28294000
36.3 to UT Khawaja, Southee finally gets a wicket. After eight straight dots at Khawaja. This is a length ball outside off, angling away. Khawaja plays with a bat half-horizontal and half-vertical. And away from the body. There is some extra bounce too to take the edge through to McCullum at first slip. 113/2
913303.66372001
1846013.33816101
12.1 to DA Warner, got him first up. Given not-out on the field for a catch to the keeper down the leg side, New Zealand review it, and they have reviewed it well. Warner, who shakes his head, you can tell he is out from the way he is moving the moment this has been reviewed. This is short of a length, into the hip from round the wicket, he looks to work it fine, and has gloved it. The umpire thinks it has come off the hip, but the gloves are far from the hip, and that is the only thing that touches the ball. 49/1
