Another one on MSD, CSK... Why not Nohit Sharma? Looks like our cartoonist cannot see anything or anyone beyond MSD, CSK, or Srini!

I think Indian fans are a bit harsh on their side. They nearly won the first test, but only lost due to McCullum and Williamson heroic partnership, and they were only denied the second test because of the greatest individual New Zealand innings ever. Dhawan and Vijay received a lot of blame at the top, but Pujara and Kohli were also in poor form. I feel Rohit isn't a test player, but has not be given the opportunities at test level. Their bowlers were described as the worst attack ever, but Zaheer defied his creaky bones and produced some great spells, Shami looks a promising future prospect, and Inshant you received the most critisicm proved most deadly. It was an enthralling test series and I can't wait for New Zealand to take on India again.

@jimmyvida. What can ICC do about terrorist incident in Pak? even Sri Lanka isn't complaining to ICC so how can India complain? Is not that ICC is forcing teams to go to Pakistan and play. And what do you want from ICC? ban Pakistan players from playing cricket because terrorist targetted SL team? smart!

@Vikramjit Singh - at the moment, India needs batsmen who get runs with the bat & stop / catch balls coming in their direction. Once that happens, everything else will fall in place. Our lazy batsmen reduce the bowling contingent & add to the damage caused to our bowling by the batsmen's incompetence, they don't even catch the ball. .....Worse - they are not even held accountable for their lack of focus while batting OR fielding by the Team Management / media. Who takes the blame - orphan Indian bowlers.

  • jimmyvida on February 19, 2014, 17:07 GMT

Pakistan are treated too well by ICC. SL went to Pakistan and what happened? Did someone say that Inshant and Zaheer wants out of the Indian team? Until they say they are ready, hold on. You bawled and bawled and got Ashwin off the team. Not satisfied? Need some bowlers who can bowl well outside off stump. Then get Wagner as bowling coach. Rohit has one problem with his batting that he must solve. I had the same problem. I solved it by putting a nail through a sponge ball and tied a string to the nail. Took a piece of wood (bat) just an inch in diameter and during the rainy season had some friend push the ball to me. As it was reaching its end it would naturally veer away. I learnt to play late, very late. The new ball never bothered me after that.

Whether in politics or in cricket (which is also politics ridden) Indian leaders are used to occupying their chairs for a long time, unless you get on the wrong side of someone more powerful than you (as Ganguly will tell you). There is no such thing as the abrupt firing of a CEO. And the gladiator sport called IPL (which Richie Benaud rightly called a "tamasha") will ensure that the "cricket" played in India is a different game than that played in the rest of the world.

Dhoni doesn't want fast bowlers in his team because he cannot keep their fast bowling. All the test playing countries, throw the ball to the keeper after every ball is bowled, be it played defensively or hit hard. Only Indian team doesn't do that. This is per Dhoni's instructions.

Dhoni must be replaced as wicket keeper and as test captain immediately. I hope selectors are taking note of this.

  • Collegefastbowler on February 19, 2014, 15:29 GMT

If Johnson had been in India, MSD would have kept him on the bench and preferred to play other mediocre trundlers for reasons that no one can fathom. Over emphasis on defensive tactics and poor selection of players is the main reason for not winning any of the last 14 Test matches played abroad. It has to be a horses for courses policy and the tactics and players that you use to win in India do not work abroad on greentops. Why keep players like Aaron, Yadav and Pandey on the bench and keep giving so many opportunities to Ishant and Zaheer? If someone is not deliveriing results, drop them and give a chance to the others. Unless you give them a chance how do you know that they cannot deliver? In any case the existing crop is not delivering so what do you have to lose? Ultra defensive approach and incorrect selection policy means the captain has to drop himself. There are other better wicketkeepers available and no one should be considered indispensable.

dhoni is not selecting good team just selecting his favourite guys again and again. he is selecting csk guys who are average players.how can you win a test match if there are not eleven good players in the team.Dhoni s bad selections 1 Murali vijay is not good test player and not better than gautam gambhir.he is in the team because he is a CSK player.2 again another csk player ravi ashwin is not a good odi bowler nor a good test bowler he cannot take wickets.he is only a average T 20 bowler.Jadeja is not a good test bowler he is not a wicket taker he releases the pressure created by shami or other bowlers.ISHANT and ROHIT are given too many opportunities. While other good players are sitting on the bench all the time. amit mishra ,stuart binny, ishwar pandey are not tried properly in odi or tests.how can dhoni say we have good bowlers without trying all the 15 players.ishant , zaheer .jadeja and ashwin are also not wicket takers.so we have to try some new players who can play in NZ AUS

  • on February 19, 2014, 14:40 GMT

Like Gayle from WI Dhoni is a misfit in the test scene. We have keepers like Saha who are better suited for test including Karthik. Dhoni the captain does not make changes till he is forced to do. I hope selectors will have freedom from CSK to drop Dhoni and look forward but it will not happen. He has survived so many losses he will be there till Indians lose the cup

  • on February 19, 2014, 14:18 GMT

I do not understand as to why people justify MSD's poor captaincy by blaming a inadequate bowling attack. The problem is non selection of good fast bowlers in the test side. You keep on selecting medium pacers and go on whining for lack of fast bowling. MSD consistently overlook genuinely quick bowlers like Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron who bowl at around 140 + but there is no place for them under Dhoni's captaincy. How will you get fast bowlers when you do not select them. MSD does not believe building a decent pace attack for the future but goes for tried & mediocre bowlers and blame the weak bowling attack. Had Mitchel Johnson been an Indian I am sure he would not be considered as a first choice in the test side. MSD is a wrong Captain who is trying to win with a weak bowling comprising of aged medium pacers and average Ranji trophy Spinners. He plays test matches like a one day match. A very diffident and timid captain who has settled for a draw from winning even against weak teams

  • on February 19, 2014, 12:51 GMT

India needs good pace bowlers who can consistently bowl just outside the off stump at pace. Ishant Sharma needs to be dropped. He sprays the ball all around the wicket . Zaheer Khan needs to be shown the door as well as he is nearing the end of his career. Among the batsmen , Rohit Sharma needs to go as he has seldom performed to expectations .Dhoni needs to be removed as test captain after losing 10 matches abroad.

If there is no accountability then there is not going to be any improvement.

If teams are judged on how they perform on the road i.e. away from home then Pakistan is the best side in the world! Have a look at their stats! They play all their games away now since 2008/9 (??) and have won more games than any other side away from home! Yet they are being marginalized by the entire cricketing world! India with its billions of investment cant even beat New Zealand! No disrespect to NZ they were fantastic and are at the moment a very good side!

Another disappointing overseas tour for India...most of the teams are now exploiting the weakness of Indian team, so that's being one of the main reason for such a losing streak in SA and NZ. I Hope the Indian team will perform much better during the upcoming tours.
