Gayle's answer to Gangnam

Chris Gayle's uninhibited celebration dance after the World Twenty20 win, which featured moves from the global hit 'Gangnam style', has inspired a dance artist, Zinga, in Jamaica to create the 'Chris Gayle cover drive' dance. According to Zinga, who is also a former cricketer and Gayle's friend, the new dance is influenced by Gayle's original moves as well as the Gangnam video. The video will be shot when Gayle returns from the Bangladesh tour and will also feature Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Wavell Hinds and Daren Powell. Zinga has some more moves in the pipeline - 'Nah laugh wid dem' for Samuels and 'Wave dem' for Hinds.

Whats more, Gayle is also expected to sing the song for the promotion of the video before he leaves for the Bangladesh tour. Watch out Bangladesh, Gayle could dazzle you with more than just his bat.

Raina blames it on the "nephew"

Suresh Raina has become the latest of a long list of cricketers who have got into trouble over their tweets - but his response might be the cue for future explanations. Minutes after Pakistan's semi-final loss to Sri Lanka in the World Twenty20, a tweet from his account mocked Pakistan for the manner of their defeat.

Expectedly, the tweet caused a furore over social media and it was several hours before Raina responded - by blaming his "nephew".

Cue a host of re-tweets and even a "Raina's nephew" twitter handle with tweets about the "uncle's" exploits. Kevin Pietersen may well be wondering why he hadn't thought of something similar when asked about the controversial messages he allegedly sent to South African players.

Gayle backs the cricketer in Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt said he'd be interested in playing the Big Bash League. But can Bolt, the world's fastest man, hold his own on a cricket field? Chris Gayle, one of the most destructive Twenty20 batsmen, certainly thinks so.

"In a charity game he [Bolt] played against me, he almost knocked my head off with a good, competitive bouncer," Gayle said. "He wouldn't embarrass himself. I'm sure he wouldn't put himself in that position. Once he gives himself that actual chance to train and get back in the groove again then he'll actually put on a show. He can handle himself."

Melbourne Stars had a couple of spots on their roster and had expressed interest in Bolt. Gayle bats for Sydney Thunder, so there's a possibility of another Bolt-Gayle bounce off.

Malinga the mascot

With his distinctive hairstyles and sling-shot bowling action Lasith Malinga is one of the most marketable cricketers in Sri Lanka. Add to that his success in the Twenty20 format - he's third in the all-time list of T20 wicket-takers and has just come off a successful IPL season - and it's a no-brainer that the ICC has made him the event ambassador for the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka this September. "Lasith is a special player and one of the most recognisable cricketers in the world. Whenever he runs in to bowl with his distinctive action there is a thrill in the game," it said.

Malinga's rise to stardom from a fishing village has made him a role model for several young cricketers - more so in a cricketing culture that, like the Twenty20 format, embraces unorthodoxy. As the face of the tournament, he'll be a popular choice - just don't ask the batsmen!
