Profile

Born at Lymington on February 27, 1889. When serving as a Captain in the Seaforth Highlanders, he died of wounds at Amara, Mesopotamia, on April 7, 1916, aged 27. A fast, erratic, right-handed bowler, he played a few times for Charterhouse in 1907 and gained his blue at Cambridge as a Freshman in 1910. In the match against Oxford he took 4 for 67, causing a sensation in his first over by bowling a couple of wides and dismissing A.J. Evans and R. Sale. That year he was the most successful Cambridge bowler with 35 wickets at 20.51, and he played twice for Hampshire later in the 1910 season, taking 9 wickets at 29.00 with a best of 5 for 94, but in 1911 he failed to retain his blue. In 1913 he played at Lord's for the Army v Royal Navy.
