David Kitson was a Yorkshireman who played 32 times for Somerset after moving to the west country at the end of the Second World War. He was a prolific runscorer at club level but failed to make his mark in the first-class game, managing 886 runs at 15.54. He subsequently moved to South Africa before returning to the west country where he excelled at bowls.
