Profile

PROFESSOR CYRIL TYLER, who died on January 25, at the age of 84, played 16 matches for Gloucestershire from 1936 to 1938 as a right-arm medium-pace off-break and occasional leg-spin bowler. A Yorkshireman from Ossett, he had great success as a teenager in the Heavy Woollen League. He became an agricultural chemist at Cirencester Agricultural College in 1939, eventually becoming Vice-Chancellor of Reading University it 1968, until retiring in 1976.
