Harry Zachariah's two first-class appearances were both against Tasmania in 1935-36, fixtures that at the time were outside the Sheffield Shield. At the time he bowled seam with the new ball and the switched to orthodox slow left-arm later on, although he found more success with the latter. In his second game he took 4 for 83 (opening the bowling) and 6 for 142 in the match. As a 19-year-old he took 5 for 74 for a Victoria County XI against the touring West Indians in a two-day "up country" game, including the scalps of George Headley (caught in the covers) and Learie Constantine. In 1937 he grabbed three wickets for the Australian Universities against the MCC. He enjoyed a long club career with four teams - Northcote, University, St Kilda and Richmond - and finished with 516 wickets at 18.58 in 176 first XI matches.
