Het Schootsveld, in sports park Colmschate Noord in Deventer sports the first grass wicket in The Netherlands. This brand new ground was opened 2 September 1995 by the Dutch Secretary of Sports at the time, Ms. Erica Terpstra and completely paid for by the local club Koninklijke UD, without support of the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB). The pitches themself were installed in February 1995. On two fields there are two squares with a total of 17 turf pitches. November 1996 saw the installation of a practice square with 6 pitches. The first competition match on a grass wicket in the history of Dutch cricket was held here on June 15, 1996. The first official Premier League game was on August 10 of the same year, and the opening international match on August 6. Also in 1996, Phil Neale, member of the TCCB pitch committee visited Deventer and wrote a positive pitch report.
