Shah, Dunk among four CPL replacements

Owais Shah, the former England batsman, and Ben Dunk, the BBL Player of the Tournament, have been signed as replacements for Ahmed Shehzad and Thisara Perera in the Caribbean Premier League. Shehzad will be unavailable for Jamaica Tallawahs due to the PCB's training camp, and Antigua Hawksbills' Perera will be travelling with the Sri Lanka A side to England for a limited-overs tour.

Hawksbills will also be without the services of Kieran Powell, who has withdrawn due to personal reasons. Jamaican batsman Shacaya Thomas has come in for Powell. Barbados Tridents have roped in Kirk Edwards after Imran Nazir withdrew due to an injury.

St. Lucia Zouks are also looking for a replacement international player, after Brad Hodge suffered a broken arm in a warm-up game.

There is doubt over Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan's participation too, after his NOCs to play in overseas tournaments were cancelled by the BCB because of discipline issues. Shakib was part of the Barbados Tridents squad but the CPL has not yet listed him as unavailable.

"It goes to show the strength of the Caribbean Premier League that we are able to draft in such talented and popular replacements for those who are now unavailable," said Michael Hall, the CPL cricket operations director. "Although international commitments and injuries have taken their toll, we are always confident of having plenty of talented cricketers ready and willing to step in."

The CPL runs from July 11 to August 16.

Sorry to say that now CPL looks an ordinary tournament, lack of a number of world stars :(

Why the hell are the Indian players wont be participated in these type of tournaments as they have vast of experience in IPL, playing in westindies will be very advantage for their future tours.

yes indeed he scores quickly and he can surly strengthen the top order of the Barbados Tridents team or any franchise in the tournament. Kirk can be very aggressive which is what is needed in T20 batting at most times.

yes I agree that Kirk Edwards should have been on a Cpl team considering his.fast scoring ability .he can represent Tridents or any franchise in the tournament .good luck Edwards

Kirk Edwards should have been playing to begin with ridiculous a W.I player wouldn't be involved in CPL especially lookin at the power he has been hitting the ball with lately, after he hit that 100 v NZ in ODI I didn't know why they didn't play him in the T20's considering Gayle.Polalrd.Samuels were all absent as he has all the ingredients to be a good T20 opener or no 3. Henry Davids the South African who made name for himself in the last Champions T20 will be playing for St Lucia and I heard rumour Yuvraj may replace Shakib although find that hard to believe as BCCI do not allow Indians to play foreign T20 leagues.

Powell probably withdrew from the tournament to work out his technical deficiencies after being replaced in the test team

Jamaica Tallawahs might use "shah" effectively at right position & use his batting as a counter attacking...
